Imagine you and three fellows are the sole survivors of a cruise ship wreaked in the middle of Pacific Ocean, four of you were stranded in a remote and isolated island where rescue will only arrive after several months or years. A is a deaf (hearing impaired)fellow, B is a dumb (speak impaired)fellow and C is a foul mouth who like to curse, swear and use vulgarity every time he opens his mouth.
If you are given a choice of choosing only one fellow to be your friend while living there , which one will you pick and why you make that decision?

I'll just choose Person B- the one who is dumb. I think I can easily deal with that person compared to Person A or C. Atleast, Person B can hear me, can see what I see, he can just write what he wants to say or do sign language. Anyway, I'll have him work out with him. I'll make a best friend out of person B.

Oh I would definitely choose person B because I am a quiet person in general and I absolutely love peace and quiet but if I got with the loud mouth person he would drive me crazy talking constantly and I would probably end up drowning him and the deaf person, though he could not hear, may be able to speak and there goes my peace and quiet again. ;)

Ok! I can see your reason for wanted B to be your friend, but not every one who can talk is going to disturb your peace and quiet, unless he or she is a SOB who doesn't know when to open the mouth, you just don't want to take any chances since you have such a limited choices in that island. LOL!!
Thank for your response!

I agree with you 100%, there are a lot of people that can talk but just don't very much, but given my choices in this situation, B sounded to be the one least likely to bug me and C would have definitely been the last. Having a vulgar mouth doesn't bother me at all to tell you the truth, but what I generally find is that these people just Never shut up! ;)

i think i will go for the foul mouth who like to curse. he would might by chance... i might get entertained by his cursing. it may not be funny but atleast i can hear something specially when it is really so boring already. har har har. i have someone to talk too and keep my sane mode on. trap in an island can be really insane so i guess i will build friendship with C

i am not fun with people who are like that. i myself dont say bad words too. but if you are trapped in a situation like what you said i would rather be with someone who can talk.... than with someone who will just look at me for i might gone nuts. i will not be happy of course if i am with that kind of person but in that situation i'll go for C. but i hope we get rescued as fast as possible. har har har

You can rest assure you will be entertained all the time if you have a friend like C whenever he open his mouth, I've no doubt about it, hahaha.... I have experienced with foul mouth person before, so i will rather not to be entertained because i feel more irritated rather than entertained before, so he will not be my choice.
Thank for your response. Happy mylotting!

I will choose B. For A communication is difficult because he can not hear me. C is too much annoying and I dont think we will get along. B can hear me so at least part of the communication is getting through if I need to tell him or her something. We would just have to work out a way for her to communicate her thoughts back like maybe write it or use gestures.

I agree it is more difficult to communicate with A than B, since you can not just talk to him like normal communication. At least having B as friend he can understand whenever you curse at him, so you will not be wasting your time, (just kidding !) LOL!!
Thank for the response.

Tell you the truth, i do not know whether he will curse you or not, but i will not count on that to happen, you know, old habit hard to change, unless you can curse louder than him at the same time chewing gum.... (Just kidding~!)

I would choose A as they would be the most useful to me. Being hearing impaired doesn't mean they can't do other things and I would be more likely to survive with their help.

Yes, hearing impaired only make him not be able to hear your speech, he can be as competent as any one of us or better than us in certain skill , or possess different type of talent we don't have. I have no doubt of your opinion at all.
Thank you for your response.

awww....
i guess i'd rather choose the deaf one...
hmmm... to maintain the peace and quiet atmosphere hahaha!!!
if I choose C, we'd fight...
If B, I might be influenced with his dumbness... haahahahah...

A can not hear you but he can make noise and talk, how you think it is going to be quiet and peace, so i can not guarantee you the wishes will come true. With C, i will end up arguing or cursing match with him rather than fight. With B, you can not have a normal conversation like with some one that can't speak, so chances is you might get influenced, that is highly possible. hahaha..
Thank for the response, happy mylotting!

great topic, nice job. I would have to go with C as i think i would get along with C myself. I would not want to not be heard so A is out, I would not want to put up with a speech impaired person. i do not know what it says about me. Just as honest as I can be.

First i want to thank you for your first sentence and honesty, Tea512. Your response said nothing about you, it is just that you feel comfortable with C base on your own set of circumstances, after all, you need to live along side with him , not me, so i have no problem about it. LOL!!!!
Thank for your thought, happy mylotting!

i would pick C and foul mouth, because we are just alike!!!! and at least he can help us get out alive, other than the other two, the deaf one wouldnt be able to hear the noise to warn me if something is coming at us and i would be able to understanf the speak impaired one if something bad was about to happen and he was trying to tell me

Every one is choosing Mr. B. You are already far away from world and then you will be soo silent. I will go for Mr. C because he will always be speaking something and i will never feel boring alone and i will get my vulgarity vocabulary also from him.

If I were in this particular situation or scenario you mentioned, I would definitely choose A, the hearing-impaired fellow to be my friend. Personally, I need another individual to be with me but since he or she is deaf, I guess I don't have any option but to teach myself her language (sign language) so that she could understand me. This way, we would be able to pass the hours without getting too much bored since we are keeping ourselves busy.
Likewise, the speech-impaired person might also be a great addition to my long list of friends, since I also would be able to exercise my patience and my skills to learn how he or she communicates.
The least I would want to be with is C, the foul-mouthed person. I believe that if he or she is going to be my companion or friend, I might get more stressed and pressured of the slow pace of rescue I am looking forward to. Further, I might even develop into a person similar to that fellow.
'Til next post.

Alright ! I will want to believe you must have patient to learn sign language, it is about right you get to make full use of idle time while over there, at the same time got yourself a companion/ friend to overcome boredom. Who know may be you become an expert in sign language when the help arrive. So C is out of luck with you, LOL!
Thank you for the response.

I will choose B who is dumb.Because the person is dumb he cannot make noise and his curses won't be heard around the whole island. The other two A and C will keep making noises on the island cursing the rescue team to come fast.I don't like people who make a lot of noise. It is very irritating.

Yes with B , you will never have to worry that someone will take the silent of a deserted island away from you, i guess you will get to enjoy bird song, wind whistles and sound of the wave more with him around than the other two. LOL!
Thank for your response.

B. I like quiet. It's easier to figure out problems when the other person isn't always talking, and arguing about things. A. would also be a consideration. When a person loses one sense, their other senses are greatly amplified. So B would be able to hear things I couldn't and warn me. A and B both would probably be smarter than I, since they've had to adjust to being different. They'd be able to think outside the box.
Forget C. He's too busy yakking to accomplish anything.

I have no doubt A and B can be real smart, even though they are disable. B seem like going to be the most favorite person among many responses here. Even though he is unable to speak, many still want him around, B probably can warn you in other ways like touching, or even give you a kick if the need arise. LOL!!
Thank for your response. Happy mylotting!
