It's similar to MySpace. Basically you 'follow' people. You update your status constantly with what you're doing. Your friends/fans (if you're famous) can 'follow' you and see what you're doing as often as you update.

Yes I would like to know as well, I saw them talking about it on The View this morning, not that I want to join it as Facebook and Myspace take enough of my time now, another site is something I don't need.... but I am still interested to know.

Twitter is perhaps the simplest way of sharing a picture of your life and work with the people who are interested. Some things aren’t worth an email or a phone call, but your friends may want to know about them nonetheless. If you’re in a restaurant enjoying a wonderful meal, then the spontaneity of telling people in the moment can be valuable and interesting, and it takes seconds to send one text message. Or if you’ve just published a great blog post then an update via Twitter is just as immediate but far less intrusive than emailing the link to your entire address book. Most importantly, you’re reaching people who have chosen to follow your updates — essentially they’ve opted-in to knowing what’s going on in your world. Twitter isn’t just about broadcast, either. You can reply to individual tweets, and send direct messages to individuals, or link to tweets on your blog or website if you want to share something particularly interesting or timely in another format. In short, Twitter perfectly encapsulates the phrase “deceptively simple”. There’s nothing to it at first, but the possibilities are huge once you dive in and get started. In some cases, Twitter can be an early warning system for breaking news, and politicians such as Barack Obama use the service to keep in contact with their geographically distributed followers. But for us the value is much simpler — Twitter represents the new social media model of distributing information, in which content is a conversation, not a sermon from on high. I am trying to fix my twitter profile as we speak - come follow me if you are a mamber and I ill show you how useful it can be.

I am a member of twitter. I run a blog and at times, when I update it with posts, put a short note on Twitter, with the URL. Because the notes are restricted in size, I use the http://tinyurl.com/ site, so that I can shorten the URL of my blog post. I sometimes leave notes about interesting discussions I have on myLot too. . Derek

It can be considered a social networking website or a microblogging website. You have 140 characters to post updates about what you're doing. It's pretty difficult to get a complete grasp on until you try it for yourself. I really enjoy Twitter. I use it to keep in touch with friends and family, to promote my blog and website, to follow celebrities, to keep up with updates for my favorite websites, to meet new people with similar interests, to get special Twitter user discounts on items I buy, and to share interesting tidbits and websites with others. But there's so much more you can do!

I heard that twitter is a tool that can send short message to your friends and followers, and it is like Dogeball. It is started by Obvious Company. Hope it will help you!

it's like the 'status update' section on somewhere like myspace or facebook crossed with text messaging/email and social networking. You get a page where you can post short messages, other people can 'follow you' or you can 'follow' them - which is like friend adding - then when you log into the site you can see all the posts ('tweets') by the people you're following. You can also reply to other members posts (your replies will appear both on your page and in their reply page, bit like an inbox and/or on their page if they're following you) or send direct messages - (like PM's)

Exactly ..I am stumped myself. I have a Twitter account and I am lost. I have logged in a couple of times to try and figure this thing out. I am about to give up on it.
