I am just looking to start cellege at 27 and feel discouraged by the time lost. But also excited about my newfound goal. Is starting late a big disadvantage?

I started degree course at 33, and gotten my degree at 35. All my classmates are working adults, and it is much more interesting in class participation. We do not agree with everything the textbook says, because of the experience we gain from working life. In fact, I would say that starting late is a big advantage, because you have a few years of solid working experience, and this helps in the examination too. Instead of using textbook example, we quote from real life experience, and add in a bit of theory to support our views.

I don't think it's a big disadvantage starting out late for as long as you"re determined to pursue your goal in life--that is to be successful. Just be optimistic and don't think about the missed years in your life for there's no use of crying over a spilled milk, so to speak. Be more productive instead by maintaining your focus on your goal. Good luck!

I don't think that you age will be a disadvantage at all. The fact that you are older than the average student means that you have more experience and that will make it easier for you to understand and relate to the things that you learn. I have gone to college more than once. The first time I was very young and I didn't finish my studies. When I was 28 I went back to school, and there was a huge difference between the two experiences. The second time I was more mature and my life experiences was a big advantage for me, it simply made thing easier in many ways. Good luck and don't worry about your age, it might turn out to be a blessing instead of a problem
