There is lot of interest being generated in herbal remedies particularly for the treatment of diseases for which the modern medicines don't offer much. What is your opinion and experience about herbal remedies and other conventional ways of treatment like Yoga/ Acupressure/Reiky etc.

I have used an herbal remedy to treat my migraines and it was very effective. The problem was it was too expensive, around $8 for only 2 treatments. Because of this I have just stuck to my OTC Excedrin Migraine pill which is about $6 for 25 treatments.
Now that I am pregnant I cannot take the pills anymore so I will go back to the herbal remedy.
In the US most Health Insurances do not cover Acupressure, or any other Eastern medical practices. I would like to use herbal and natural remedies as much as possible, if it were cheaper.

I still believes in herbal remedies because I felt uneasy around pills and injections. I still use soy sauce with lime juice to cure cough, I even use special leaves ( I cannot say the names because it is in my mother's language) to cure skin disease. They works fine with me.

With a long family history of heart disease and cancer, I've always kept an eye on both conventional and non-conventional treatment.
Yoga - as an exercise is just wonderful. There's probably no other form of exercise that will help your maintain flexibity into old age as well. My first yoga teacher looked to be in her fifties. Then one day, she told us she was 70 and not one of us believed her - until she pulled out her drivers license.
Do not get sucked into the hype on any food or herb. Herbal does not mean safe. Lose that thought. There are plenty of plants in both your house and garden that contain some very serious toxins.
I believe that concentating on exercise and diet should be your first prority. Do that well, and hopefully you won't have to worry much about "remedies" - herbal or otherwise.
