Mixing Business with Friendship

Just state your experience and tell your story, coz I just got out of a bad fight with my friends about this and at least we've resolved the problem and just kept on being friends and just trashed everything about the business... Any thoughts...

i have before, i make they know business is business, and friendship is when we're not working.
my brother in law used to work for me found this out the hard way, never wanted to do what he was suppose to do or even show up for work. so i fired him. he was like but we're family.
i was like yeah outside of work, but at work i am your boss. so you are fried

not well he cried, he went to his wife , my wife and my in laws about it. i told them as like him business is buiness if he can't listen or dont want to work oh well
