I started to ignore any calls from 1-800 and just this year, I received 3 voice mails from them and when you will listen to it, it's just an annoying music, I was thinking maybe I pissed them off and they want to revenge me for not answering them... Have you experienced this or you always find time to answer and talk to them? Maybe I am just too rude?

It is really bad that you are forced to hear unwanted calls that too through voice mail, it is certainly invasion of your privacy and those people who dial your number waste your time, without any fault of yours. It feels really disgusted. I have no such experience, by the way.

Don't you have some complaint system or something like 'Do Not Call Registry' functioning at your place? You can also make a complain about it.

it is usually a computer that is out searching for a live number for telemarketers then to use and call you up, ever wonder how they get your number that is how, if you pick up and answer that computer there isn't a real person at the end of it, but the computer registers that it is a working number and then the telemarketers start calling after that.

I agree, it's better not to pick it up and I can't avoid to check the voicemail and most of the time, it's a weird noise!

My sister gets various calls about loans and stuff like that, and she doesn't even live with us anymore! It's really annoying, because they're what makes up more than half of our phone calls per day. Since we get them all the time (Except weekends), as well as some call directing to home owners, we always ignore the phone until 6pm, when they usually stop calling.

I always got calls like that, but there is a web-site that you can go to on the internet called "do not call restery, and you put your phone number in & it stops those calls...I am not sure if that is pelled right but look it up & when you find it put in the numbers that you do not want them to call, and those calls will stop. Its free...

Hello checapricorn, This 1-800 number is it a free toll number? Well, I never experienced something like this where when you ignore them, they will start to 'harass' you with calls. Maybe you shouldn't listen to your voice mail if you know it is from them.

Yeah I tend to ignore these types of calls too, and if I answer the phone and it is a calling centre or sales I hang up on them. It is rude of me I know but they just will not take no for an answer, they want you to have the product they are selling and will not let you off the phone so I hang up. I also get the calls where I am left a message and it is just music!!

I don't think that you are the one that is rude so much as the people to whom keep calling. 1-800 numbers can be bill collectors who continue to call and call until finally someone either answers, and even so, if they are not satsified they will call and call again. It's a necessity, as they have the right to call, but they don't have the right to harass.

When I joined one survey sites, I was able to give my number but after receiving a lot of calls after that, I quit and now tried to ignore these callers but that's it,they will leave me a voicemail with annoying sounds! Kinda revenge!

I hardly ever answer those 1-800 calls. I have caller ID and I screen my calls. However sometime I am in the answering mood and I will pick up the receiver and no one is there I hang up immediately. I have answered and I get a recorded message saying this is a very important call and they go on to say hold until some get to me and I immediately hang up.

My two phones go constantly throughout the day. I am getting to choose who to answer. I figure that if it is really imporetant then they will call back. I would not accept calls from someone who is trying to sell me something or reply to messages. No way. No time for that. sorry. some people may have time to listen but I choose not to and I don't have the time. don't fel bad about it. I know that they are just doing their job but I chpoose not to answer. Blessings

We get those all the time. The other great ones are "By continuing to listen to this message you are confirming that you are indeed the person we are trying to reach and that this is your debt". I'm like, that can't possibly hold up in a court of law. I do know that the one things creditors do not want you to know is that you have the right to write them a letter requesting that they no longer communicate to you via phone at home or work. We actually had one person refuse to give us an address on the phone so we took their name and number, and reported them to the BBB and States Attorney General for failing to provide us with a company physical address. We've not heard from them since, not even in writing as we had requested. Namaste-Anora

You can use a reverse lookup program to see where the number is coming from. I get the weirdest local calls and when I answer its just a beeping sound. At first I thought it was a fax machine but it isn't. I did a reverse lookup on the number and a lot of other people complained about it. I called it back from a blocked line and it was busy. I ignore the 800 numbers too .. maybe they'll give up

I don't answer them either. I don't think it is rude not to answer. They are calling my home and they have not been invited to call me. So I feel no responsibility for talking to them and I don't feel bad not answering their calls. If I do talk to them they are just going to try to sell me something I don't want, and probably can't afford anyways. They can call all they want, but I don't have to talk to them.

Hi Che, I ignore calls like that but there are times I am tempted to answer being curious of who is on the line but all I can hear is a voice mail promoting their business. I immediately hang up the phone and so far, I did not receive any calls like that...I don't know maybe tomorrow or next week or what?? hahaha.. I just leave them alone. I can't earn if I will fret over it.. hahaha

Oh no, I don't think you're rude. We do the same thing, since usually it's just a recording, or some one looking for people who do not live here anymore. Every time, it's, "Can we speak to ____ Dillenbeck?" After telling the same people that they moved out of this house almost fifteen years ago, they're back for more, insisting that they still live here. It is really annoying...
