I,m always on a food budget, i usually buy large bags of pasta n rice and plenty of veg. With the veg i make home made soup that would last 2 or 3 days. With the veg I use many different ways of cooking it so its not the same everyday. I tend 2 roast vegetables, or perhaps if i,m making mash i add brocholi, so i have mash brocholi n potatoes, kids love it with home made cheese sauce. We usually have a bit of chicken or fish with it or perhaps sausages. I don,t really follow receipes, i experiment with it and go by taste, and ive had no complaints from the kids or my dinner guests! xx

Hi
Ramen Noodles are very cheap, lol but very unhealthy.... Have you checked the salt intake on these puppies... My daughter loves them, she lives off of them.. I mean I ask her what she wants to eat and she is like noodles and she means ramen noodles. She has eaten them so much that I have started to add just a small portion of the little packet to her noodles and she doesn't seem to notice...Thanks for your input though!

I don't really have a recipe for it (I've always cooked by taste). But, if I'm looking to stretch my food budget I've found I can make a big pot of spaghetti for under $5 and it'll last a couple of days.
Chili is another good dish. If you mix in macaroni, it'll make it more filling and will last longer.

Get a crockpot. You can make the cheapest cuts of meat taste tender and delicious in one of those. Anyway, do you like turkey? It's cheap. Buy 3 or 4 turkey wings. Thaw them out in fridge overnight if frozen. Rinse them off with water and set aside. In the bottom of the crock pot add a bag of frozen stew vegetables. Season them with salt, pepper and cajun or soul seasoning. Put turkey wings on top and season the with the same seasoning. Pour one half cup of waterdown the side of the pot. Not directly over so you won't rinse off the seasoning. Cover with lid. Turn the crock on high and let cook for 5 hours. You can serve this with rice if you like or stove top stuffing. It's cheap and good.

try this for desert
Ingredients - Semolina – 1 cup,Sugar – 1 cup,Pure ghee – 1 cup,Water – 4 cups,Mixed dry fruit (almonds, dry coconut, raisins – 25 gms)
Method -Mixed sugar and water and boil to make syrup-keep aside. Heat ghee in karahi and fry sieved semolina in it till, it is golden brown. Add the sugar syrup stirring constantly to avoid lumps. Cook till water is absorbed. Add dry fruit. Use some to garnish. Serve it hot. It makes a good combination with poori (Halwa poori). For 1-cup wheat flour – use 2 cups water. For 1-cup Gram flour – use 1-cup water. Halwa can be made with semolina, wheat flour or gram flour.
dry fruits are optional this is a proper recipe but you can rule out dry fruits and use lesser quantity of ghee.
