What won't my dog chew on?

I love my dog Princess, she's 10 month old mixed breed, who was the runt of the litter because her siblings would not let her eat, so needless to say she was dangerously malnourished when she came to my husband and I, but she is a wonderful addition to our home and our life. She freaks me out, though, when I always find her chewing on something. You name it, and she's chewed on it. one time I found her chewing on a rubber hair tie, just chewing it like gum. And don't get me started on her toys. All the toys I've bought her look unrecognizable or I'll find pieces of them all over the house. It just drives be nuts. I am afraid that she's going to eat something and not be able to poop! Any suggestions that might help?

You sound like a good doggie parent. The chewing is an issue. Maybe she is stressed. I'd have the same concern. Try talking to your vet. Princess cannot be the only dog with chewing issues in their care. They may have some terrific ideas. SOmetimes, the pro does know.

It helps if the dog is provided something she is allowed to chew.

When you chatch her chewing on something, put tobasco sauce on it. I broke 3 dogs from chewing on thinks by just putting hot tobasco sauce on it and it only takes a couple of day for them to realize the thinks they are not suppose to chew on.... Mine was chewing on the phone cord and picture frames and the feet of my chairs and table. So I put hot tobasco sauce on these things when I seen them chewing on them and they wouldn't touch them again. I only had 1 dog that actually like tobasco sauce. So this one I had to smake on the noise with the item and tell him NO.

I hope you gave her something that she was allowed to chew, it's natural for dogs to chew.

Your fear is justified, many dogs have had to have surgery to remove unwanted items from their insides. I would be careful to pick up the house and get her toys she can not chew apart, like Kong brand. Extra effort on your part may help and she will probably grow out of it. Also make sure she gets walked everyday so she is not storing excess energy.

Yea pets are always doing something strange there just weired, and adorable all at the same time, I have a cat and he's constantly doing things that are totally strange, and annoying, the only thing I can seguest, is that maybe you should by your dog one of those big bones to chew on, and hied all your valuables.

Hi there, I love dogs, I have a pure breed pomeranian at home. She is 6 years. I have the same experience with my other dog (different one) that I bought 4 years ago. I bought her from baby 2 months old. She is really naughty and like to chew everything, socks, wire, shoes, and she even bites at people. I can't really teach her. I've smacked her but it didn't work. One day I found her chewed my share mate socks and her poo turned out blue because of the socks. It was really terrible. So at the end I sold her and I bought an adult dog because I think I don't have to teach her as lot as the baby one.

Every time you catch her chewing on something he is not supposed to chew on then tell her no, smack her nose (not hard but enough to get her attention), and take it away from her. Chewing is what puppies do, if she does not have chew toys then get some, if she does have them then when you catch her and punish her follow up by giving her something she can chew on. I had a dog once that ate half of a chair while I was at work. Just immagine the mess. :)
