Is it unavoidable to everyone to have a chickenpox? What causes that sickness? How will one know if he or she is going to have it?
I had not experienced having a chickenpox before. And I can say that I am a bit afraid to have that sickness. Many people says that it is better to have that sickness if you are still a kid rather than if you are an adult. As I was tutoring yesterday, I did not notice one kid there who has a chickenpox. It looks like as if she has so many wounds all over her body. When I already reach home, I told my mom what happened and she told me to rub alcohol all over my body.
I am quite nervous now because I am afraid to have that sickness. Can anyone share with me what is happening when one has that sickness? How can we prevent it? Have a nice day to everyone and Happy mylotting!

hi echowon,
So, you didn't experience having chickenpox when you were a kid up to now? Is it possible that we can really not have it even we got old?

I have a chickenpox last year. When I get that sickness, I can do anything just staying and lying on my bed. My body getting worse and worst with the much swollen. It's not hurt but you will feel weird with it.
There are so many prohibition when I get the sickness like
1. can't go out at night, because it will make me often get headache.
2. Can't eat seasonal fruits, mean like durian, pineapple. It will make your skin become scaly.
3. Can't eat chicken or fish and especially soy sauce. it will give a black spot at the swollen of the chickenpop.
Today in my country has given the immunization to the children. So when the children get this sickness, the sickness won't make much swollen at the body.
To prevent this, it only stay clear of the people who get this sickness.
Keep post
Happy myLotting...

Hi annierose,I have experienced having a chichenpox, but i have forgotten when, maybe when i was about ten.Memory is not very clear now, but,it wasn't painful.I didn't know how I had it,I just remembered that I couldn't go to school for a few days, and could only stay at home and stay in bed.It was a summer, but i was covered very thick quilt,it was very hot. And,I couldn't eat anything cool.I remembered that my little brother always ate icecream, but i could only watch him,i was so greedy then.LOL.....But,i was surprised that my body was normal and i didn't feel any pain then.Later,i got well and began my normal life again,LOL....So i think it is not necessary to worry about that.Wish you health and happiness.

IT is easier for kids to get chicken pox than adults. in adults it's known as shingles and is alot more painful than regular pox. But it all depends on how old you are? and are you sure that you didn't get them as a kid? Reason I ask is I had a very mild case when i young i had 8 on my entire body while my cousins were covered from head to toe. Your best bet would be to ask your family dr.

hi csmith,
I had only measles when I was still a kid but never a chickenpox. I am 24 years old right now and my family has no history of having it. Is it possible that even if we do not have a history of that sickness, that I will still have it?

Chicken pox is not hereditary you can get it even though no one in your family has had it before. If you think you have it you should not scratch and go to the doctor.

I agree with you manicheprt and sad to hear what happened with you when you got that disease. Anyway, it won't happen again, right? Because according to previous discussions you will just get it once.

When you have that sickness. You get all boils filled with water on your body.It doesn't break easily. Also the boils are very itchy and you will feel like scratching over it.You can prevent it by always taking a bath with an antibiotic soap it will keep the germs free. Its better not to go near a chicken pox person. It is an infectious disease and anyone can get it.I had a friend who got two times chicken pox in a row.Its a heat related disease. You can keep your body cool by drinking coconut water and taking curds with your food.

No one have will exempted for not having a chickenpox even you already had a vaccine. Chickenpox vaccine cannot help you not to have a chickenpox but vaccine can only minimize the chickenpox in your body since your immune system knows that bacteria already.
I been have a chickenpox before when i was 16 years old and its so really awful to have that kind of bacteria in my body. I got a chickenpox all over my body no exemption even in my private part it was takes a weeks and couple of weeks to gone all. I have a very bad experience on that and i wish i wouldn't have that again.

yea i got it when i was like 5. before i started primary school. which was good because i was on MC for about 1 month.
at that time, my dad caught chicken pox from me. mum was joking at how my grandma managed to keep him so clean.
but anyhow, the chicken pox was painful for him. Weird dont' you think. They say that for kids to contract chicken pox, it'll be itchy. But for older people to get it, it screams PAIN!

You aren't going to like this comment. I really wouldn't worry about it. You'll either get it, or you won't. You can ask a doctor about getting an inoculation, but after that I'd just stop thinking about it. Worrying won't change whether you get it or not, but it can make you more susceptible to disease. It breaks down your immune system.
I've never had chicken pox, or measles. I didn't get inoculations either. (Mostly cause as a kid, I was terrified of needles. When they were giving shots, I headed for the door. I was pretty fast, so I missed most of those shots. Managed to outrun doctors too, heh.) My entire family was covered with measles, and I lived and ate with them. Not a spot.
You and I might have a natural immunity. If you do get spots, it might just be from nerves. The worry, you know. Put calamine lotion on them. It eases the itching!

I think you are either going to get it or not. I didn't catch chickenpox until I was 37, but I had been around people who had it lots of times before. It started with a bad headache, and I felt really tired, then the spots started coming up. The main thing is to not itch them, which is really difficult because they are incredibly itchy. Somebody said if you catch it as an adult that it is called shingles, but you can only get shingles if you have previously had chickenpox.

I have had it twice and my dad has had it three times, so do not belive that you can only get it once. And for me it was misrable. my sugestion is to get the vacine, and avoid people that have it if at all posible.

I had a chicken pox when I was 18 years old. Chicken pox, just like mumps and measles are immune diseases of humans, they are natural illnesses of our body system that we must gone through, according to some health professionals, these are some ways of extracting bacteria in our body so it is just normal. If we never attacked any of these illnesses during our lifetime, we are in danger of "silent" bacteria that little by little attacked and destroy our immune system.
There are no prevention of these diseases because they are natural and most likely will occur to all humans, but we have immunization when we were still infants so these diseases are not really fatal anymore. I am glad that I was having these diseases when I was still young at least, the agony was still bearable, because beloved mama was always on my side.
Remember, Queen Elizabeth II of England?she got a chicken pox when she was over 60 years old, because when she was still a child she was extremely protected so the disease keep "hiding" in her system, but then these natural diseases will really surface, even if we are old enough.

hi janyen,
They said chickenpox, leaves a mark even if it is healed already so the person with that sickness should never scratch it. But they said that it is too itchy. I am so scared of that also

I haven't have a chickenpox till now. When I was a child, I have a vaccination that can keep children from chickenpox. All the children should have this vaccination in China. But if the body condition is too bad, people still could have a chickenpox. My friend had a chickenpox last year.
Don't worry and happy mylotting.

I had a vaccination also when I was a child and when I was a teenager, but I do not remember if that is the vaccination needed to keep away from chickenpox. Thanks for sharing.
