My daughter, who is in first grade has been given a project at school... that is to take a paper potato and use the Luck O' the Irish to change it into a leprechaun. And then she has to make up a story about the leprechaun and describe it. I think she has a good imagination to make up a story, but the real problem is I don't have any idea what a Paper potato is, or what the Luck O' the Irish is(I searched online and different sites say its just a phrase, and I'm confused). All the searching I've done on the net only makes it all the more confusing. Can anybody help me with this? I have also found a picture of a leprechaun on the net that I've attached with this discussion. Can u tell me if that is what I should be having as an example? Would be really grateful for any suggestions in this matter.

Hi!.. I have 2 children a 2nd grader and a preschooler sometimes when my child has project they are supposed to make in school that i can't understand and my children can't explain clearly I would go over to the school after work and talk to the teacher concerned or i would just call or send a letter to the teacher asking for a more detailed instruction. Another option is to call parents of my sons classmates.

yeah.. I thought so too.. but I was afraid of being embarassed to show that I know nothing about these. I thought everybody would know naturally, and unfortunately, I don't know any of the other parents, so I guess it would be better to ask the teacher what she's expecting. But I wanted to have some idea at first, so that I could clear up any doubts. Thanks for responding.

Hi I dont know if this will make you even more confuse or not, but I searched online, and this is the website http://mydistressingjourney.blogspot.com/2008/03/luck-of-irish.html Aparantly the luck of the irish refers to four clover leaves and PIG symbol(PIG is the original irish luck symbol) but it really is just a saying... In the old days, during depression the people there mainly eats potato as thats all they can afford to. So having a PIG will change your luck and very good for your family if you can possess it. As for paper potatos I think you are supposed to make a potato from paper cardboard of some sort (www.geocities.com/athens/aegean/2221/potato.html) and somehow... turns this into a leprechaun :) Hope this helps?

Thanks a lot for the geocities link. It helped me to have an idea of how to use "Potato paper". As for the Luck O' the Irish.. I am more confused now because I read that three clover leaf was the luck they were talking about .. ...oh heck.. never mind. I'll figure it out somehow. Thanks for taking the time for searching online to help me. Appreciate that a lot...
