Sometimes we try and try and things just dont work out... I have done this trust me... there were times I cook something and surprise myself and then there has been a time or two that I have cooked something and it went right into the garbage because even a dog wouldnt eat it....LMAO!!
I recently did this when I attempted to make a rice and veggie dish...now it sounded good as I was putting it together... it really did, and I am not sure what went wrong but when it was done... ok, it was just bad....LOL
has this happened to you?

Rice and veggie dish on my part has never happened to me but frying fish has. I was new in cooking as just got married and had my mum in law and sister in laws over for dinner or lunch (I forgot). My husband and I couldn't afford to buy fish. Even until today fish is a very very rare commodity in our house as it is expensive. So I bought some fish from TESCO and fried it in the deep frier. Having no expeirence as to whether the fishes was fresh or not, I just bought then and fried them. When presented on the table it was eaten by everyone and to me who was very new in cooking and finds that the fish was okay to eat, had lots of noise and complain from the eaters around the table. Noises such as yee,ewww.....and also the comment of the oil used for frying the fish was not fragrant enough. So the meal was a disaster. I tell you I was really discouraged and I kept quiet and thank God for my husband who said something about trying out this new budget frying oil. From that day onwards, I never cook for his family again....it was really very discouraging as chance was not given for a newcomer like me in the area of cooking. But glad and happy to say that my cooking has improved so much since then as practise makes perfect and also loads of encouragement from my husband. But I would still think and consider if ever his family would come over for meals - I think it's safer to suggest we eat out - spare me all the discouraging criticism.

Well, I've never said that your cooking is bad because as long as your cooking, I appreciate the very act of your labour of love? AhahaEven when it's below par to others during those 1st few times, I'd always say I appreciate it although there can be room for improvementsDon't worry about them, they're not really bad as in to hurt others intentionally, it's just that their brains don't think too much before releasing the words out of their mouths, haha!~ It's just a bad habit they have:Þ

I once made a portuguese soup that was really pretty bad. I think I didnt have all the correct ingredients os it was not very good. I think that there are other things that are bad that I made but I cant think off the top of my head what they would be. Once I didnt stir up my jello correctly and it had hunks of gelatin in it. It was not very good.

I have not really cooked in the kitchen except for in my scouting days where we do Backwoodsman cooking with bamboo & all those stuff so....hahaTell me about those days when we cooked rice in the bamboo, it's really a skill to master - most of the times it's always half cooked or over cooked as in really burnt & can't be eaten, haha
