Sometimes making money is less important than saving money. Considering the fact that we are in a deep economic down turn do you think you can live on less without severely impacting the quality of your life? I have just learned that if I do it right I can make 3 meals out of 5LB of hamburger for a family of four and have left overs! How do you save money?

i think the most important thing for today's difficulties is to have an income, to earn something. because we can not save any money unless we have some income from which we can source our savings. if we only focus on savings, there will come a time that it will dry up. we don't need to tighten our belt if we can stretch it and fill it. it's better to find ways on how to earn more. mylot is an additional income for me.

I hear what you are saying and I am thinking maybe there is room for both? Make as much money as you can possibly make and then save everywhere you can as well. This way you take a two pronged stab at it instead of one or the other.

I agree with you and am currently living the lesson. I look at things now in a different light. I always stop now and think before I buy something and am always tyring to look for new and innovative ways to save money. I've taken it as a challenge which in turn makes it interesting and satisfying. Good luck and hope you continue your saving habits.

I could live on less, if I was forced to. We save money by paying ourselves first, we budget the month before our paychecks ever arrive, then we know where our money is going, if its not in the budget, it doesn't get spent. There is nothing wrong with living lean so you can save money, you'll be hundreds of dollars ahead of the character in the story who didn't save.

I save money by cutting back on useless expenses. And I don't eat dessert anymore after eating lunch or dinner. I don't go out that much I just stay and eat at home.

Whether you can or can't live on less, if there is very little money you are forced to live on less. I have always lived on less, and when I lost my job in June, it really became difficult. I try to prepare meals that will last me more than one or two days. I do not mind eating left overs.
I have actually started hand washing my clothes because it is too expensive to go to the laundry mat. I am receiving $900.00 a month less than when I was working, collecting unemployment.
