My Mother language is Chinese. It's supposed it's hard for a chinese to command English well specifically on speaking in English. Anyhow, that's the reason why I drop in here frequently as to get promotion on my English.

Yes, English is my first language and the only one that I speak well (sadly). I can have a beginner level conversation in American sign language and I used to know how to ask for things in Spanish and Japanese. The Japanese I picked up at a conference in Japan and the Spanish I learned from the kitchen staff at college.

Since I'm Swedish, English isn't my native language. However, I've been learning English since I was 7, which means that I've about 13 years of experience in talking and writing in English. I'd say it's a second language for me. I'm almost as good at English as I am at Swedish, but I make mistakes sometimes. My English is far from perfect, but it is still more than enough for getting by in the world.

hi,ivan!Being a Chinese, english is not my mother tongue but my first foreign language.I've been learning it since i was at junior middle school but I can't speak in it untill very recently...I found learning grammer systematically is very helpful to a learner,as we aren't living in a circumstance where english is spoke by most people and it's not practical to learn it well by practising oral english. On contrary, one can benefit a lot from "writing",including "writing"on computer, which I'm doing now.And when you are writing in english, you are thinking in enghish automativally.Though at the beginning,it can be difficult and depressing, you will find it is worth a lot of hard work at last,as long as you insisting doing so.

Hi Ivan, English is not my first language; however I was educated in English since young, so there was not much of a problem using this language with friends/business. I still continue to use my native language when communicating with my parents & family members. In fact, we often mix languages among friends as well.

English is not my first language. I was born in Italy and came to Australia, where I live now when I was around 10 years old. I couldn't speak English then and had to learn it in order to go to school and function in society. It was difficult at the time but because I was a child I learned it relatively quickly. I consider English my primary language now; I think and dream in English and it's hard to believe there was a time when I couldn't understand it at all!

Take it easy.
English isn't my Mother language either.
This really doesn't matter.
And what really matters is you like it. Start to think in English, I am sure you can make a great progress with MyLot after a period of time.
Good luck and have fun.

No,English is also not my mother language, but i like to learn it ,and learn it as my major during the university. And my second foreigh language is Russian language, but not very good.Due to i don't learn and use it for long time,i now almost forget them, only can speak simple sentences.I find that nowadays people who learn their second or third foreign language well, they can get a job more easily.Because each country now pay important attention to international trade. So foreign languages are also the communication tools for job.

English is not my mother tongue but it is our second language. And we were taught in school ever since elementary. You only have to practice speaking English so that you will not be shy in communicating with other people.
We are used to speak English in College so that is where our tongue got sharpened. I was laughing how my other classmates make fun of themselves conversing but at least they tried.
I used to remember when my mom implemented an "English speaking only" rule inside the house, whosoever caught speaking in our native tongue will be fined Php1.00. And our helper used to pay a lot, we were laughing a lot, it is very exciting.

English is not my mother tongue.I am a Chinese and I began to study English in my primary school at about 10 years old.I don't think my English is very well but I think I can express myself by it to mylotters. It doesn't matter whether English is or is not our mother tongue. We can take it as a good communicating tool among us.This is my opinion.Good day and happy mylotting.

Though English is not my mother tongue, I have a fair command of this language. I learn english from school and my interest in reading helped me improve it further. When you read more you tend to improve your thoughts and that itself pave the way to write good and interesting topics. It just flows freely from the mind.

No, English is not my native language. My mother language is Chinese. English is only a foreign language for me. But English is becoming very important in my country. We have begun to study English since we are in the primary school. And you still study it even if you are in the college.
I love China

English is not my mother language - it's my third actually. I was born and raised in France so I speak French (fluently). I have Portuguese parents so I speak Portuguese (not as fluently but not too badly). English is my 3rd because I moved to the USA and it's the language I speak best.

english is my mother language but i won't say i speak queen's english.
so at times, i do get some grammatical errors. And since i too learn chinese together with english, there are certain expressions in which chinese words better explain it. these are times when i have difficulty expressing them in words.

English is one of my mother tongue. I actually have two. I learned both English and French at the same time. I grew up in a household, where we spoke English and French. It's the environment that I grew up in, the environment that I'm used to.
