Hi. We never rent movies...we never really have. A theater opened a couple of years ago close to our home, so now my husband and I go to the movies every once in a while. It's nice to get away, esp my youngest son is old enough to stay home by himself now. We also watch movie channels and PPV on TV. Nadine

dvds are way cheaper so definitely dvds over the theater...but a night out with that movie popcorn is always a nice treat!

We opted to watch DVDs at home for now because of budget constraints and besides the movies are so expensive already, sometimes it feels like its not worth the cost to watch the movies at the cinema. Its more comfortable to watch it at home and after the movie, we do not have to think about having to travel home especially when the movie ended late at night. The only disadvantage of DVDs is that we have to wait for a copy to be released so we can rent it. That would mean that we would not be able to watch it until after a few months. My husband is not that keen with the idea of not being updated with the movies but for now, he will have to make some sacrifices.

While I prefer to go to the cinemas, rather than watching something on DVD for the first time, it's just too expensive here in Australia. It costs almost $20 to go to the movies, so I don't go very often. Instead, a few of us get together and have DVD nights about once a month. It's not the same as going to the movies, but it's much cheaper!

Hi, sophie_dfuss, I prefer to watch DVDs at home. I can concentrate on the movie at home, becoz' there are people talking/eating/drinking in the cinema. I love all kind of movie. Happy myLotting !!

I like watching DVDs at home as its more cheaper and relaxing... more privacy too. I don't go to the cinemas anymore for a long time now. I don't like other cinema goers who are talking so loud about the movie or kicking my seat from behind.

It depends on the movie. If its just a comedy movie I would rather see it at home. If its a big action comic book type like the watchmen xmen or transformers movie then I would want to see it in the theators mainly because I cant wait for it to come out on dvd and its fun going to the movies once in awhile.

Hard call. I would have to choose the theatre, since the experience is more real, but I like DVD's because you can rent them cheaply and enjoy them and be loud with your friends.

I used to go to the movies thrice a month but with the global recession, i don't think its practical to go to theaters these days.. i prefer to watch good films right at comfort of my home.. that way, i won't be spending too much on just one movie because i can do movie marathon(1-5 movies) anytime of the day.. in fact, i bought new DVDs to watch this coming weekend..

I prefer to watch DVDs when the movie isn't THAT good. That's because I don't buy DVDs, I just borrow them :D That helps me save a lot. However, I do make it a point to watch the good movies in the cinema. I think everybody needs to relax once in a while in order to become more productive at work after :) Thanks for the response on my discussion!

Hello sophie_dfuss! I rarely go to cinemas and I would never spend my money for cinemas. I remember that I can only go there if someone will invite invite me and pay the ticket for me. I even can count on my fingers the time I went to cinemas. I would prefer watching movies at home.

I prefer to watch DVD at home than watch in a cinema. I download movies in the internet so it's cheaper. But I also go in a cinema once in a while with my boyfriend or some of my friends. ^_^

sometimes i just love to watch dvds in the comfort of my room... but sometimes i love it in a wide screen to atleast really experience the goodness of that movie...

I do like to see movies in the theatres once in a while maybe once or twice a month if not more. But yes I do get movie DVDs home to watch movies pretty regularly.
