Why people enjoy other's downfall?

we are in 21st century, progressing in every field of life, but except one. the question arises here... WE ARE SO BROAD MINDED. IS IT TRUE? I think "no" .
whether he/ she is our friend or our enemy or a common man, if he/she falls in life at any stage, we do enjoy not everytime but surely at some point of time.
Is not it ridiculous?

for 'all Day Dreamers only',this is True!
We enjoy, b'cz we 've not attempted--so no question of reaching us to that Goal/success.
That man tried and Failure of Him give us thorough ENJOYMENT...we reconcile we were 'wise' not to attempt that success !

Hello snayak! That's what I don't understand too. I wonder why other people are happy seeing other people failing or falling. I even encountered those people here in mylot. Anywhere we go, whether in real life or internet, there are people who would like to see and pull other people down.
