Do you mend a hole in socks or throw them away ?

Depends where the hole is and how big the hole is.
If it's rather small, and is located where it can be hidden by my shoes, then I'd probably just mend it. It's a pure waste to throw away good socks since they're hidden in our shoes.
On the other hand, if the sock is already stretched to the limit, no longer brilliant in color and is obviously retiring and then there's a hole, I'd rather let it retire and buy another one.

Honestly I would if I already have replacement of it, however if I don't have it right away, I should temporarily use it just for the meantime....thanks//

Hello tudors! I would probably throw it away..hehehe..I can't use a sock which is torn already. I guess we better buy a new one than repairing it.

Good topic! My mother told me to be thrifty when I was a child and taught me to learn to use the threat and needle. So when I meet the situation I alway mend the hole of the socks. To tell the truth, I am going to mend the hole of my socks before I see your topic. It so happened! Thank you for you topic and I will mend it after responding! Good luck!

I would throw it away because socks are rather cheap here and I don't bother to mend the hole because that would be using up too much of my time. I would prefer to buy the new ones.

I'm not good at mending. But I hate throwing things away. I cut off the ends and use them for dustrags. Old socks make better dust rags than anything else I've used. They don't work for cleaning windows, but for dust they're fantastic.

I don't wear socks any more when they have a hole, then throw them away after a long time. Socks aren't that expensive anymore however the cheapest ones get holes before as the material is not that good. Now with the money problems i'm facing I think I will have to mend them so at least I will not need spend money on useless things. after all the mended hole will not be seen by anyone except if removing shoes.
