Do you ever lay out in the sun?

The beach - The beach great for laying out in the sun.

When going to the beach or to the pool. Do you ever lay out in the sun to get a sun tan? I have done this for years. But I find I just cant handle the strong rays of the sun in the south. So now I avoid it and no longer lay out in the sun. I used to enjoy the peace and quite and the warm rays beating on my skin. But here in the south its way to hot to lay out in the sun.

I always have laid out to tan. And since I lived in the south most of my life, I was used to it. I did notice after I moved to the northeast, even though it might be a warm day, I never tanned as dark as when I was down south. That's the part of summer I enjoy most I think, being able to go to the beach or pool, or just outside. Now I'm only about an hour from the beach here in Virginia, so hopefully I will get there more often.

I wish I could lay out in the sun but unfortunately I have very sensitive skin and I get rashes when I am out under the sun for a period of time.

The sun is too hot these days. They said that it's because of the global warming that is destroying our beautiful and fragile planet. I would get the morning sunshine while walking to the office. When Im in the beach, I don't do sunbathing coz it would make me look darking. Summers here are really warm and the sunshine is really intense. You can't stay under the sun for coz the sunburn would be terrible and unbearable.

I do when ever i can. It is very good for you to lay out for about 10 or 15 minutes every day. it is the best source of vitiam D, So i try to do it everyday when the sun is out. It helps with a lot of different health problems. Too many people are not getting enough of the sun anymore. You do not need to lay out for very long everyday, and you do not want to get burned. But you should get some everyday if you can.

I did as a teenager because I wanted a tan like everyone else. It was one of the biggest mistakes of my life. As a result, I have had so much skin cancer on my face, arms, legs, back and chest. The surgeries over the years were too many to count. All were basil cell carcenoma which is the best kind of skin cancer to have, if there is a good kind. Didn't require anything more than surgery to remove the cancer. No radiation or kemo. The most difficult surgery was removing a small cancer around my nose. The graft came from my cheek, not to be confused with my rear end..lol The nostril didn't totally drop back into place and I had one of the best surgeons in our area do the surgery. Am explaining the description of this cancer because if I can save just one person from going through this mess, it's well worth it. For the last few years I've been cancerfree and probably because I avoid the sun as much as possible. Sunscreen doesn't work on my face. I burn right through it since my skin is so fair. But oh how I loved to have a tan many years ago.

I do love the sun. Always have and always will but avoid it as much as possible. Sometimes it's not easy.

I feel bad that you had to go through that. I had a small pre-cancerous bump removed from my nose about a few years ago. They said it was nothing to be really concerned about but to protect my nose in the sun. I think I got that from all my island vacations.

I love to get a tan. Sometimes I lay out to catch the rays. Most of the time I catch the rays while I am gardening or mowing. I love the warmth of the sun. I am looking forward to moving south. I will get a much better tan there. I don't like the fake'n'bake tans that people get in the salons. The tan just never looks right to me. It is not natural.

Yes, I would lay out in the sun, but not for long periods of time. We need sunlight to manufacture vitamin D in our bodies, and many people the world over are low on this vitamin and they are not sure what sort of illness this can lead too. There seems to be a lot of paranoia about the sun and it's driven people to block out all its rays from the skin. I think we need a little without barrier, but certainly not to the degree that the skin burns. Each of us is different, and if we can just get the skin warm, very slightly pink, it would be enough sun for us. That is just my opinion though and it always best to find out from the experts and make a choice. I have noticed that even expert opinions differ though.. . Derek

I think everyone does need the vitamin D that comes from the rays of the sun. I have heard that this can prevent cancer. Like I said small doses should be enough without burning your skin.

i rarely lay out in the sun to get a tan. i'm a chinese but i tan really easily. i can maintain my tan simply by walking out for lunch and back. there was once that i went for a full day's of sunning. when i return home, my parents almost couldn't recognise me. the best part came a few days later. an indian lady started speaking to me in tamil because she thought i was indian too.

I like to enjoy the morning sun ray, which makes me feel warm while doing some stretching exercise. Actually, much better while doing Tai-Chi, but I don't know how to do it. Whatever, morning sun ray does promote my feeling good and seems like it cherish my day. Especially, while doing my "walking medicine" activity. A good start for that day to actively continue enjoy my life in that whole day.

Your skin will love you for not laying out in the sun. You'll age so much slower. Those are the good things you get from loss of your sun bath.

hello moneymommy i enjoy laying out in the sun, and i make sure that i have on my sun tan lotion on when that i do lay out like that. and i always like to lay out in the sun before that it gets really hot weather around here in Tennessee. lol i cannot stand to lay out in the sun either in August. lol you know? but if i do happen to be out in the hot sun like that thou, changes are i am at my friend's house with the pool, at the beach, or at a splash park somewhere. several years ago, i purchased myself a scratch off lottery ticket, and i won fourteen dollars on it, so i took that money and went and bought me a lounge chair for when that i lay out in the sun. whoo hoo! i got a free lawn chair. and when i lay out in the sun like that, i cannot wait to come back inside whenever and take a shower and put lotion all over myself. my hair dresser tells me that the sun takes out the color of my hair since that i have started having to have my hair dyed these days, and by the end of the summer time, my hair has all kinds of grey hairs in it. ewww. i always go get my hair done right after that the kids go back to school in August. lol take care and have a beautiful afternoon.

I do agree the sun does lighten hair. My hair will always end up getting much lighter if I spend to many days in the sun and in the pool.

I am an Indian and we get enough sun here all the time of the year. Even during the winter days it is really hot. Thus, I never tried out laying out in the sun. I do see a lot of European or American tourists laying out, trying to get their skins tanned and only one thought comes to my mind. We always feel the need for what we don't have and we do not appreciate the things we have. We Indians already have a tanned skin and we want to get fair!

I love to sunbathe. More yet, I like to work out in the sun. I rarely burn, but then this is the northern states. I've seen videos of where the sun really bakes ya, and I gotta say...sometimes I wonder why I wonder why I don't migrate. xD Not alot of beaches around here. Well, near te great lakes, but those beaches aren't that great. The smaller lakes have some better beaches, but we rarely have time to visit them. I usually just sunbathe by laying out in the middle of the yard. xD

The only time i ever done that was by accident. I stsrted out laying in the shade. Was so tired i feel asleep. The sun moved and when i woke up i was all burned just on the back of me. I love the sunshine but im not a sun worshiper. I do not purposly stand, sit or lay in direct sunshine. My skin looks tanned anyway.

Well in the past maybe that is still applicable. But now, no way. Sun rays bite my skin. I don't wanna end myself having a skin cancer. Too much sun exposure nowdays are very harmful to ones health.

I have never been one to try to tan, at the beach or lake, I am more interested in playing in the water. There are times when I will go outside to sit in the sun though. Soak up some rays, just for the sake of the vitamins and to get in a more positive mood, and get more energy.

I rarely get any fun in the sun these days. I would lay out in the sun to get a sun tan though. As a child, I used to play in the sun all day everyday in the summer time when there wasn't any school. We used to play football in all of the heat, etc... I used to bug my mom everyday, to let me go outside. It was really funny to me at that time. She'd pretty much let me know everytime just to get some piece and quiet to herself. But she also, knew I wasn't going to get into too much trouble with the neighborhood kids.
