Is E-Gold a scam?

I have an E-gold account and, now, it seems to be completely impossible to me and other users to use our own money. It is not possible to make a payment, receive or send money, withdraw, etc. E-Gold asks for our identification and, even after we provide what they want, our accounts are still lock. So, what do you think about this? Are you having the same problem? Do you thunk E-Gold is a scam or is this only a temporary opinion? Please, share your opinion Thanks
