Well i think they should be involved in as many sports as they wish so if they dont want to be involved in any thats fine as long as they do have other interests.
Too many activities would be when you realise your child has no time to relax chill out in their room or watch a dvd without having to run off somewhere its great for children to be out having exercise and fitting in as much as possible but they do need relaxation time aswell.

Hello my friend deedeehall Ji,
I think, choice of sports should be left to children only. However, apart fron indoor and outdoor, 'Athelet' must be included and swimming must be taught. We must
try and develop all round. may god bless you and have a great time.

My Kids are grown and away. I raised 4 boys, and they have all been successful in life. I always encouraged my boys to avoid competitive sports. I told them we don't need any more competition in this world. What we do need is more cooperation. If everyone was willing to cooperate, this world would be a much better place. Cooperation brings success and happiness to every aspect of life. Competition demands that only 50% of the players succeed. Cooperation allows 100% success in the game of life.I believe the lessons of cooperation, taught to my boys, have contributed in making their lives a success.

i am so happy to share this story with you. my little boys are in grad k and are not old enough to play basket ball yet but are on a swim team. i am just thinking a head.they go to a christen school and the story i want to tell you warms my heart . the school played ball against a correctional school.every time we made a point every one would cheer.every time the correctional school would make a point they had no cheers at all. so the administrater of our school said we will have 50% of our crowd cheer for our team when they make a point and we will have the other 50% cheer for the correctional school when they make a point. you would not believe what this did for every one in this room.at the end of the game both teams joined togeather and ended in prayer every one walked away friends and with a new lesson in life and sports.

You have to remember that children get tired and can get muscle strain and completely tired out. There used to be a woman in our village that made her son .swim in the morning and do football practise all after noon on a saturday, then he attended dance class, amateur dramatics in the week, cubs, and music classes ect that child never sat down.It is nice for them to do a couple of sports or activities but to many just makes them tired, everyone gets tired including children.I don't see how they can learn anything properly if they are exhausted or be successful at anything. That is my point of view.xxx

i think 1 sport for a kid is okay. sports, i think, should only be a diversion of what they're currently doing which is i believe studying.
however, any form of arts as a diversion would be pretty good also. not to mention lesser in chances for injury.

hey. yes to many activities is to much. but it all depends on you kids age and how much he she can take. but most of the time two sports is just perfect it will keep them in shape (depending on what spot) and it will keep them occupied. its best to pick a sport with flexible houres that way your kid will not need to pick one over the other evry onece in a wile.

It depends on the child, the activities and the family. Are thechild manageing well in school?
What are their interests?
How many children do you have?
Do you both work full time?
I believe that many children now have to much activities. Children need to play and rest as well.
My older children 11 and 9,5 are different persons!
The oldest plays soccer (she's training 2-3 times a week from April to September + one or two games, during the winter she's training once a week), sings in the church choir (once a week September to April + a "concert" once every month) and trains atletics once a week during the winter (September-April), she does great in school. In July she is free from all.
The younger also plays soccer (she's training 2 times a week April - August and have a couple of games during that time, she's also in the choir, plays the recorder once a week (practies at home daily for about 20 minutes) and goes horse back riding once a week August-May (or twice if she rides at her friends house as well), she also does great in school.
The oldest will start taking singing lessons later on, but that's all she could manage.
Some of their class mates are involved in 3 - 4 sports and have some kind of practising to do all days some days even two things + school. That's to much!

Our son studies martial arts under his father, and will probably not be involved in any little leagues, etc. We may involve him in ballet or some type of dance because certain dances correspond to certain types of martial arts and can aid the child in technique.
However, that said, I wouldn't want to see any child become so overwhelmed that they were running from one thing to another. Children are sponges, but they need down time.
