WalMart decision to upgrade the store is dumb

Our local WalMart has started upgrading their store, putting in new flooring, upgrading the bathrooms, putting up a new sign and painting the outside of the store. Don't get me wrong, there is nothing wrong with that, but they will be putting in a new Super WalMart in the near future and will be abandoning this building like all the others in our area. Now tell me, why would they put money into a building that will not be used? Why don't they give their employees raises instead! I just think that is poor planning on their part and think it is absolutely ridiculous! Has this happened in your area? What do you think of planning like this?

I have to wonder if we live near each other, the Walmart near us is undergoing the same thing and the Super center is supposed to open elsewhere in the same town, within a year or 2 I think.

I live in Vermont on the border of New Hampshire, where the Walmart is; which in fact is great for me because New Hampshire doesn't have a sales tax!

I have seen three Walmarts in my area being refurbished. The ones I'm talking about I believe plan to stay in business at those locations for a while, so it's good as far as I know. But I don't like the colors they chose for the outside. Pastels. Is that supposed to be modern? I don't think so. I agree, employees getting raises seems like a better idea!
