Hi MyLotters! Summer is here again in the Philippines and it is the time to enjoy fruits where you can buy at much cheaper proces. Last week, I bought a kilo of ripe mangoes and it was only @ 1USD!!I am thinking of making fruit shakes every week even everyday!!! I love ripe mangoes so much!!! But I am looking forward to get a taste of watermelon this summer. My kids are so into strawberries, I might buy some as well... I am also looking forward to have a taste with my other summer fruits like pomelo and melon. What about you? Do you have any favorite summer fruits?

My favorite summertime fruits are watermelons and strawberries. These fruits are the best when they're fresh and juicy. I could eat these fruits at any time. I love them.

i love mangoes too. here in davao, i think fruits are far cheaper here. you can choose from different kinds of mangoes. you must also try mixing mangoes and avocados with condensed milk. it is soo yummy.. try it with your family.

Are you sure it's a good combination? I'm not into avocado since it has an after taste. My kids are also not exposed to avocados since I am not buying any. But probably this is the best chance for them to have a taste. Thanks for the suggestion... And btw, I like the durian no matter how strong the odor is! I went to Davao way back (as in Way back...when my hubby and I were still bf/gf) and I swear I don't want to go back here in Manila!!! We went to Magnolia there and ate Durian Ice Cream. I liked it! I wish we could bring our twin daughters in Davao one of these days...

When I was there, I really enjoyed mangoes, both ripe & green. Its hard to find the same quality mangoes here in Michigan. And oh I miss 'singkamas' too! They have one here, they just call it Jicama and its quite expensive. A large piece can sometimes cost $4 when 4-6 pcs of gala apples just cost $1. On summer time, I look forward to picking my own cherries & blueberries. The activity itself is fun and at the same time, I love both fruits. Other fruits I love eating are cantaloupe, honeydew and watermelon too!

My favorite summer fruit is a watermelon. It is so juicy and tasty. Whenever we prepare a watermelon shake, I mix some yogurt and milk to make it creamier. Yummy!

Just cube the watermelon (cubed from three big slices), blend it with cubed ice to make it colder and more refreshing then mix the yogurt or milk about a cup or it depends on your preference. For sweeter taste, just add a tsp of sugar. Good for two glasses.

Yes, it depends where I am, because I have moved around a lot. If I'm overseas I love the seasonal fruits especially cherries, watermelons, strawberries, and pomegranetes. They are usually cheap in other countries during the season and they taste so much better than the fruit we get in the US, which is also more expensive.

I love melons in the summer. I like watermelon and cantelope as well. But, I have to say my favorite fruit in the summer, which also happens to be a melon, is honeydew melon. I'm really not too fond of the tropical fruit like mangoes or even pinnapple, but if they are in a fruit salad the more the merrier. I do like strawberries and grapes, which are much reliably sweet in the summer months, but they are in stores all year long now. One other fruit that I really enjoy, especially since the season is so short are, cherries. The last few years, they have only been around for a couple weeks and then poof.

Hi uicbear, I didn't know there are varieties of melon until I read your response.Thank you for this info, this is much appreciated. Ususally, during summer, what we do is to have a melon shake. or have condensed milk or all-purpose cream as toppings when we eat the melons as desserts. Yummy!

I love lots of summer fruits! I'm looking forward to cantaloupe, strawberries, watermelon, peaches and plums the most! I was just at the grocery store today and they're really starting to get the good fruits in stock. They looked pretty good but I'm going to wait a while longer until they look even better. I'm really looking forward to making a huge delicious fruit salad!

I just love mangoes as well. Right from green to sweet ones. I love it shakes, custards and other parental recipes that my mom prepares. I love sour green mango juice, it tastes awesome! And sweet mango shake with milk and crushed ice - simply superb! I also love citrus fruits in summer and water melon also. Red water melon syrup not only tastes but but has an amazing color and flavor. I keep experimenting with the coctails.

Yeah... I noticed a lot more varieties of fruits of late too! Mangoes are back in season, which would mean spending more to get them on the table. A kilo for only USD 1?!? that is cheap! Here, we are talking about almost USD 2 each for a sizable one! If I was in your town, I'd be gorging on those fruits everyday!

But Please come and visit the Philippines and have a tour in Strawberry Farm in Baguio City and you won't be disappointed! My kids loved the time when they picked their own strawberries and ate them right after washing. What a great experience!

Oh yes, when it comes to fruits, I've never been so happy in my life being here in India and enjoy the delicious fruits they have which is very very cheap that you can scream your heart out. I am enjoying to eat lots of seedless grapes here, be it green or dark violet in color, it is really cheap here, it only cost Php 30/per kilo of seedless, you cannot get that in our country. I am also waiting for mangoes to come. It is not yet their season here, probably by the month of April of Mid of March, i will buy lots of big, very very big mangoes of India , which is like a papaya in size. The price is $1.50 per kilo. It depends upon the type of mangoes, here in India they have the most number of types in mangoes. Be it ripe or unripe, i don't know much the names, they come in different colors and scents and shapes. I also like melons and watermelons here. They have three types of melons here. There are canary melons here, then the original husky melon and the round and pointed melons, very sweet and juicy you will drool.

Hi strawberrychocodahi, What!?!!! Is it really that cheap!!! I AM SO ENVIOUS!!! My twin daughters always, and I mean, ALWAYS wanted me to buy them seedless grapes but I am really bound to my daily budget. And look at you! If only India is just a mile away then I will be the regular customer in the markets there for seedless grapes. And mangoes as big as papayas!!! Are you kidding? I wanted to get one!! I am now drooling...
• Philippines
16 Mar 09
I am not kidding Margaux, i am here enjoying seedless grapes for the price of only 30 -50 pesos one kilo and the mangoes are really big like papayas, although not yet their season, but soon to come maybe month of April or May, i will try my best to take a photo of it and post it on my profile for you to see. Happy mylotting!
