I recently bought a Ibanez acoustic guitar and i would like to know what is the best way to start playing the guitar. I seen seen a lot of guitar lessons online but havent found anything that is right. I am really excited to start playing so that in time i can write my own songs. I basically know some of the parts of the guitar. but need to focus on the notes and how to play them as well as where to put my fingers.

hey - the best thing to do is find a chord chart and learn the basic chord progressions & fingerings...u can search for those on here & a bunch of stuff pops up. it's helpful if u know someone to play with too - i helped a friend of mine learn the basics in a few weeks, and he went on to make up some crazy fun songs.
do you know chords? or where are you at in the process now?

here's a site with fingerings for chords:
http://www.8notes.com/guitar_chord_chart/G.asp
it's kinda neat because it plays each string for u to hear...
start by learning these chords: G, C
and go back & forth between 'em, building up strength (plus, tons of songs have these chords in 'em!). your fingers are gonna hurt but keep at it and it'll get easier.

After you get a few chords down good, you should try to learn how to read tabs. start with some slow simple songs that you have heard. This will help you get used to picking strings. www.ultimate-guitar.com ; you can search for almost any song.
