You've arrived at the airport early to make sure all is well. You take your anti-anxiety pills and prepare for a 10-hr flight to another world, find your gate and read a book to ward off any anxious thoughts. As you board the plane, an announcement is made: Ladies & Gentlemen - On behalf of the flight crew and myself, we welcome you to sit back and relax...(30 min....50 min go by and you're still on the ground....). We are experiencing some....technical difficulties....we are waiting for a replacement piece for the engine, but not to worry.... And as soon as you hear the words NOT TO WORRY you start worrying?? So....what's your WORST experience at an airport (or even on the plane)??

The homeward journey of my first trip by plane started after a long delay. My mum and I had to wait all night at Athens Airport and it was crowded with people everywhere. Consequently it was a really uncomfortable night. A few years later I booked a vacation to Tunisia. However the airline went out of business. Luckily another airline stepped in at the last moment to take all its passengers. It felt London to Tunis and then on to Sfax. I was sick due the worst turbulence I have ever experienced and I got terrible ear pain. I dropped my immigration card and had a difficult time entering the country. I went to the airport in Israel to fly back home. Every passenger had an interview before checking in. I was nervous about not getting a window seat on the plane. I was keen to an check in but I was taken to a private room. My baggage got a really detailed look. I was so looking forward to flying to Mexico but my flight was canceled due to hurricane that hit the Mexican coast. I got a refund and decided last minute to go to the Maldives. Oh my, it was expensive there. I can happily say I did get to Mexico the following year.

wow, sounds like you've had a lot of crazy airport stories! it is the WORST when you have to sleep overnight at an airport - i'd say the worst overnight for me was at the new terminal 5 in heathrow - absolutely freezing and there wasn't a comfortable spot in the whole place - cold marble-like floors make it hard to curl up and sleep....

How about getting off the plane, going to the luggage carousel and not receiving your luggage containing all of your christmas gifts? Yup. I got a bag delivered to my house on New Year's Eve by who knows who, someone who worked at the airline maybe? They threw all my toiletries out.
