ANNOYING Cellphone Ringers!!!

OK everyone. Let's hear your annoying ringer stories. Today I was sitting in the coffee shop, when a lady's cellphone went off. It started off quietly, then it got louder and louder. The tone was somewhere between high-pitched, and glass-breaking, the kind of sound that would annoy a dog. I almost dropped my coffee in order to put my hands over my ears. Anyone else ever had this problem? I also hate those ringers with loud rap and rock music. My ringer is very nice. I have "Everything" by Michael Buble as my ringer. That's not a very loud song, and it gets my attention.

This reminds me of the ring tones that apparently only kids can hear. I tried one that was on the internet one day and I could barely hear it. But my son was covering his ears and the tables were turned for a moment when he told me to stop making noise. lol

Why don't they make one that just sounds like a telephone?

Mine does. It has more modern beeping type of rings and it also has the old fashioned bell-type ring and everything inbetween. I guess it just doesn't match with the mobile phone because I know I don't use them either.

I do have an "Old phone" style ringtone, the "brriingggggggggg" type one...My Brother's Mother-in-law recently gave me one that sounds like the buzz of an electric shaver! My Samsung phone has a number of settings to alert you to an incoming call..It can be set on silent mode,so it'll vibrate only (good in a restaurant..),it has a loud mode,an ascending loudness mode, and vibrate options before the ringtone starts, and while the ascending tone is getting louder..an option for everybody!

Being a bit on the deaf side I need something I can hear but I wouldn't want the whole town to know I was getting a call. One time my daughter played a joke on me and I was embarrased. She downloaded the sound of a chicken clucking. Have you ever heard a chicken cluck before laying an egg. That was ridiculous. LOL

Hey, that's funny! That one would make me laugh....well not so much the sound, as the victim's reaction. I would have liked to have gotten my hands on that lady's cellphone and done the exact same thing to her. LOL

I just started using my cell phone on a regular basis and even though my ringer sounds terrible, it is unique. This is very important. I know someone whose phone rings and it sounds loud and makes me want to stand up and salute, hehe. I believe that most people pick something that they enjoy. I am only able to choose from preset ringtones, which all sound pretty awful.

Hey, it doesn't have to be the best ringtone in the world, just as long as it's not the worst either. As long as it doesn't make people around you drop their coffees, it's OK. The only ones that annoy me are the ones that actually HURT me when they go off.

why doesn't that person pick up the call fast? in that case, the noise stops immediately. i often meet people in public who holds their cellphone and let the bell ringing, he or she just holds it and looks at the screen. very slowly picks it up! by doing this, they are telling people on the bus that they have an incoming call. gee ! big deal !

My teenage daughter does this too sometimes because she likes the song and wants to hear it. lol I tell her to answer the dang thing already before the caller disconnects!

Hi, danishcanadian, I have similar experience before, sometimes they try all tones on their phone in a public place, they try the tone loud and repeat and repeat, very annoying. I only use the default ringtone on my phone. Happy myLotting !!

Going through all the tines in their cellphone library at once? That would drive me nuts too!

Years ago I always used the default ringtone but apparently a lot of people did the same as me, so I became annoying when someone else's phone rang and I would think it's mine. lol Now I alternate but it's usually whatever my favorite song is at the time. I keep the volume at halfway because it's too irritating when it's loud, but I sometimes miss hearing it if it's in my purse.

to each his own lol, I hate Michael bubble, but about cellphones, I don't mind the ring as much as people talking on them in buses, that just drives me crazy, or if the cellphone rings in a place where it shouldn't like an exam room, bingo hall, or synogogue or church.

When my husband was in the hospital I had his cell phone, he had some weird kind of alarm sounding beep on it. WHen it went off, people thought we were under attack and came running.

I share your sentiments. I too hate those loud ringers which are not music to my ears but noise. I just cannot understand how come some people can just be indifferent to such loud ringtones, even within the office compound. It certainly is annoying.

I have a different twist to this. Amusing ringers. First, I have the same ringer for whoever calls, on my "old lady" phone, one of those jitterbug ones, but recently, when my youngest daughter calls, it's a different ring, and I haven't gotten used to it and don't go straight to my phone, not realizing it is my phone ringing!! Second, since I have a hippo collection, of over 30 years, my sister has a ring tone of "I want a hippopotomus for Christmas" on her phone for when I call! When I call and her grandchildren are around, they announce to her that Aunt Brenda is calling!!

Even though I'm legally deaf, I still hear those rings that you're talking about and YES it annoys me to no end!! My hearing loss is not of the usual whereas I can hear the high notes but can't with the low so when they go off somewhere, it does get my attention in a hurry and I wonder what the hell is that?! lol Sometimes I wonder if mine bothers anybody because it is high pitched ringing but I have to have it that way in order to hear it ring.

I love ringer tones in cellphones. I do have one in my cell. It's a mellow instrumental song. It's good for the hearing.

The first thing I did after reading this discussion is searching for Everything and listening to it .It is melodious and enchanting.Must sound great in your cell phone. Well coming back to your discussion I just detest those noisy ear piercing ring tones like you do.It is one of the cruelest public indecent behavior I can say.I used to wonder at times at the tastes of the human beings.

Hi danish, I also hate loud sound and so far this time, I don't encounter anyone who has that destructing ringing tone... I have a very soft ringing tone and I know it will not catch a lot of attention!

it's kind of like when it's a nice day and you are driving somewhere. you stop at a red light and the guy next to you has some awful rap "music" playing so loud that it makes your car shake. I get it, you like rap but it is rude to think that i want to hear it. people do the same thing with their cell phones. like i care what music you like. most phones have the vibrate feature. use that and you don't have to annoy people. people are just becoming increasingly self-centered and rude.
