According to traditional Christianity, the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit are the same entity. William Langland, who was a thirteenth century poet, wrote Piers Plowman, and this question is one of the themes throughout the 200 page poem. The Holy Spirit is God, and God is Jesus. They all stand for different things (Do-Well, Do-Better, and Do-Best), and they are all things that we as human beings strive for. It's a really fascinating read, and I highly suggest it to understand this concept further.

You posted the KEY WORD here. TRADITIONAL CHRISTIANITY Traditional Christianity is nothing more than what man has designed that fits the lifestyle he wants to lead and he calls it Christianity. There is very little that is Christian about it.
Here is what really happened. If you have read both the old and New Testament you will understand what I am saying. In the old Testament God would choose a man, personally teach the man His truth and then send that man out to teach the world. There was one big problem with this method. Over time man would forget and start to make mistakes.
God Had planes long before Jesus was ever born to use Him to establish a more perfect method He could use to teach the people. This method became known as the Anointing of the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit doesn't make mistakes. There is one big problem with this method also. Man has always been God favorite tool that he could use to do certain things. God gave man a small teaching job to do concerning the Anointing of the Holy Spirit. God put man in charge of teach others how to get in the position where God could Anoint them. Man being man he managed to screw that up too. Man saw this as something valuable and he started to charge for his services. It has all been downhill from that point.

Hi Art,
Thanks for your response. It was enlightening. I was, however, simply talking about a piece of literature that, for me, was helpful in understanding what the Holy Spirit was.

i have my own understanding of it, though yeah it's hard to understand , okay i'll try to explain what i know about it. it's the God in you, or God himself within you, that causes you to feel guilty when you've sinned, and if you respond to the spirit's call for repentance, then forigiveness is given and salvation is possible. always possible at hand. i think there are other ways that the Spirit could be calling you. it could be a personal mission or a purpose you need to fulfill to have peace of mind...anything...i suggest you pray for it. have a a nice day

Holy Spirit: One of Three Persons of God
The Holy Spirit is one of the three persons of God: Father, Son and Holy Spirit. For many of us, this is a difficult concept to grasp. The Bible declares that there is only one living God, yet we learn from scripture that He comprises three separate personages. One way to partially visualize this concept is to examine the nature of water (H2O). Water is a single compound that can exist in three states – liquid, ice and vapor. An egg is another picture. It is comprised of the white, the yoke and the shell, yet it is still one egg. Of course, by no means do these examples paint a complete picture of our God, but they are illustrative of the fact that His three “persons” in no way invalidate His oneness.
Four important principles to remember
1) The Holy Spirit is God, but He is a Person, not a force
2) We cannot focus on the Holy Spirit too much. Why? What is the Holy Spirit’s mission? To reveal Jesus. What is Jesus mission…to reveal the Father. What about the Father…to send Jesus and the Holy Spirit so we can come to Him. Perfect Harmony. They never had a crisis management meeting in Heaven. They never tried to sit down and work things out. They never had a power struggle amongst themselves.
3) The Holy Spirit gives gifts for use in ministry and empowers effective ministry
4) The Holy Spirit is a distinct Person within the Godhead, not a force, a thing, or an "it"
Hope this helps...

The Holy Spirit is the Comforter or Counselor of Truth. He is the third person of the Triune God. There is only one God but there are three persons within the Godhead. The Holy Spirit is given to every person who accepted Christ as personal Savior and Lord or to anybody who professed Christ and repented from his sins. The Holy Spirit is given to the believer as an inner witness guaranteeing that the teachings of JesusChrist are from God. The Holy Spirit is also a deposit given guaranteeing the things to come. The Holy Spirit is also the one that convicts a sinner of the vileness of his sins. The Holy Spirit also is the One that guides the believer to all the truth. Every true Christian possesses the Holy Spirit for the Holy Spirit is given to a Christian as a seal of God's ownership in his life and soul.
