This evening when i was riding my bus home, i heard such a piece of shocking TV news on the bus ( via bus Tv) :
Junior school students, boys and girls are compelled to wear their hair no longer than above the ear on both sides, and above neck at back. Girls are no exception ! So people can only tell whether the student is a girl or boy by its school suit because the colors are different. This happened in my city--- Shenyang City, also found in other cities.
If a girl refused to cut her hair short, the director of administration would cut her hair with a pair of scissors on spot, in front of other students.
A teacher from the school boasts " students are under or around 16 years old, they don't know what is true beauty, their sense of beauty hasn't fully developed, so we school has the duty to "help"them. "
on hearing this, i can't help cursing ! what a reason ! does she really know what beauty is ? does beauty have a standard ? does it mean that an adult knows more about beauty than a teenager do ? how could she doesn't feel ashamed saying that in front of the TV screen ? i really feel like throw a bad egg at her face !
The school is violating the students' right !
what's your attitude towards this ? welcome .

That's terrible~!
Now that children have access to a lot of sources that could help them distinguish their identities like television, magazines, let alone internet, doing that to children is rather unfair.
The students would already have an idea and might as well have their own concepts of what beauty is to them. Imposing hairstyles like that would only provoke animosity.
Being narrow minded is rather surprising considering that they are teachers in the first place who should know better than to be open minded as learning new things does go easy with an open mind..

Oh man! That drives me crazy! And it recall me of Culture Reform in China in 1970s,when the chinese girls have to make their hair awful. What are they doing?Going against the trend.I'm really sorry for the students there, for they are deprived of right to seek personality, the fashion, something they really wanna to wear. The faculty there should put themselves in the students' shoes, what if they were asked to do so to achieve real beaty?

Right on, menger88414
Those teachers could only say that because they are not the ones who would be humiliated and traumatized through their school days.
They should really reconsider such a decision that would definitely affect the children's psychological development now that they are aware of things happening around them..

This is so stupid! Are the parents sleeping? Some schools are really crazy and such institutions just wreck the shaping of children. If this is what they practice, I can't imagine what they would teach the children. If schools are of this kind and if I had a kid, I would rather keep it illiterate than send it to such schools. 16 year olds don't know what beauty is, eh I think 1 year olds have more brains than the teacher. Maybe the teacher has really bad hair and she is jealous of the kids who have more hair than her bald pate

parents are half-awake, i guess. they dare not protect their children's right, they dare not reason with school authorities because the teachers will torture their kids in many ways, belittling them, humiliating them, repeling them, isolating them from other students. students who dare contact with "these students" will be punished too.
The idiot teachers are the ones who lack of education and should reconsider starting their own education from ABCs. idiots!

wow this sounds like a Nazi concentration camp or the hell. These teachers can't they mind their business and do what they are supposed to be doing? Like teach children? If they are that passionate about girl's hair, why don't they open a beauty saloon instead of a school. Hypocrits, I detest them!

Oh, a very serious problem! I'm in China, too. I never heard about this story. too absurd to do so! Those school authorities are really mad to deprive the students' freedom of beauty. If the students are compelled to behave unnaturally, their personality and psychology will be twisted. That will be very dangerous to the students' development.

i am in China, this is really bad to force students to do that.some stupid teachers always thought wrong thing or nonsense thing but not think how to improve education.sometimes they just want to make innovations but not do the right point.my 5 years old daughter has her own beauty standar yet.she always asked me to wear like this or that.why they did so stupid really
