Government should have an economy policy that target industry facing massive lay-off and a plan to stimulus the economy at large. Using fiscal and monetary policy to encourage private investments and capital expenditures; restore public confidence into the financial market, and few others. Unemployment can only be curbed when the government started to get some common senses back into their policy and reacted proactively at the beginning of the economy recession.

Yes. Thanks for your reply. This is perhaps the best way the govt should deal with the situation. However the power of the govt to actively plan and carry it out is dubious - and even if planned out well, may take time to implement.

They need to make more jobs like they did during the Great Depression. Maybe they could do like they did then, have people built roads and stuff. It could happen. It seems like there are always road crews are out there working on the roads.

That would help only one class of workers. The larger part - mainly the middle class workers who used to work in IT companies are facing the worst in this recession.
If the govt. could generate more jobs by promoting their companies products compared to importing them, it may help.
Thanks for your opinion, happy mylotting

i think we need to cut out these bills for allowing companies to produce products in other countries. make it here, sell it here, buy it here. we have the intelligence to make any product that we need or want right here in america.

True. It will generate employment opprtunies and in more ways than one, help out with the present crisis - but labour and material cost is cheaper outside, therefore, its natural for the company to profit more if produced outside.
If the government wishes, it can impose some restrictions to promote native products.
Thansk for your time. Happy mylotting
