I love to cook and I like to eat. I guess Filipinos are known worldwide as people who love to eat lol. I like to try cooking new recipes from time to time -- some elicit a standing ovation, while some just don't have the right ...
My kids think that I'm a good cook (blush!). They enjoy eating the signature dishes I usually prepare -- spaghetti, authentic pork sinigang, turbo chicken with mushroom dressing, etc. and my modest deserts -- buko pandan, graham cake, tapioca, black gulaman with sago.
How about you? What dishes can you whip up? Can you share your recipes?

Yes, I also love to cook. I tried searching for recipes online and prepare them on my own. I also love making spaghetti, carbonara, chicekn recipes, easy-to-make desserts, etc. I don't like frying food, and I don't have much time for baking.

You're right. I tried baking once and it's really time-consuming. Nevertheless, it feels great to be able to create my own chocolate cake which I was able to do last year, even if it was just a simple and "instant" kind of cake - kind of like the pre-mixed ones where you just have to add water, a little oil, etc.
Frying food is not healthy that's why I avoid them too, but if there's no choice, I make sure to use Canola oil just to be safe.

I simply love to cook. I love trying out different recipes I find online or making up my own. I like to bake and help out with church bake sales and stuff. My parents like it when I cook, but not that I use spices to help season the food, they like plain salt and pepper grr. Maybe someday I will find a good man who I cn cook for.

Hi! I'm glad to know I'm not alone in my passion. You must be good at baking since you get to sell what you bake. You should share me your baking prowess since I think I've forgotten what it's like to bake.
Your parents are so simple when it comes to the food they eat. Maybe you can also train them to eat other types of food by gradually adding in new ingredients they've not been accustomed to. But I think you really are a good cook since you're already eyeing someone to cook for. Don't worry... he'll be around sooner than you think.
I wonder if we can share our recipes here. I'd sure like to have some links to new recipes I can try...
Thanks for responding and hope we all continue to enjoy myLot.

We share the same passion, i also love to cook. My whole family loves to cook and we always hold parties in the house. My signature dishes include spaghetti, barbeque and patatim. I like sweet foods. I like to learn how to bake to add up to my knowledge in cooking. I believe internet had been very helpful in enhancing my skills in cooking. It offers varieties of recipes, old and new discoveries, that my family enjoy.

I'm glad to know there are number of myLotters who share the same love for cooking. Sad to say, I do not have much time to practice this hobby because I'm working during weekdays and I work overtime on most days; although I still try to find time during weekends. Most of the time it's my husband who cooks -- can you believe that? But I take centerstage during the special occasions and, as I mentioned before, more often than not I get positive feedback from my kids (who, by the way, are not so "kids" anymore, more of adults, lol).
I like patatim. I'm also fond of sweet foods and deserts... well, all of us in the family actually. But I'm jealous of my husband and kids because I'm the only one who gains the most weight because of these sweets that I make! (joke)
Kidding aside, I also tried baking when we were in the province... well that was more than 6 years ago, and am sure I've forgotten most of the basics. But, come to think of it, I did a good job back then. I was able to bake not only a chocolate birthday cake for my youngest, but also eclairs, cookies, and some others which I can no longer recall... I'm sure you can do these too, just don't be afraid to try new things.
Anyway, I'm really glad to be sharing here in myLot. Thanks for your response and i hope we can be friends for long...

Hi my friend,
Carrot pudding is very easy and very delicious too. It's my pleasure to share a recipe with you. For that you need ingredients like 1 kg Carrots, 1 litre Milk, 1 teaspoon Cardamom seeds, 3/4 cup Water, 3 tablespoons Ghee/butter cream, 2 tablespoons Raisins, 2 tablespoons Almonds, 2 tablespoons Pistachios, 450 grams Sugar. Now wash and grate the carrots. Soak the raisins in water for 30 minutes. Blanch and shred the nuts. Put the water to boil, when it starts boiling add the grated carrots. Cook for 5-7 minutes.
After that add the milk. Cook on a low flame for 1 hour stirring occasionally. Add sugar, mix well and cook till the sugar has dissolved and all the milk has been absorbed. Add ghee and simmer for 2-3 minutes. Add the slightly crushed cardamoms and the raisins. Mix well. Then remove the carrot pudding from heat and arrange in a serving dish. Garnish with almonds and pistachios. Serve cold, hot or at room temperature.
Hope you gonna prepare and enjoy!!

I enjoy cooking. It is more like a hobby for me rather than a kind of housework. I am talented to it. Especially when I have a good mood, I can make nice dishes. I like to learn new recipes from books, TV and internet. I will be glad to see my family enjoy eating my dishes. I will be proud of myself. I have made a DIY cooking blog and I often update it: http://youless.poco.cn/ I like to share my recieps with others. Besides, I can keep it for my reference, too.

I enjoy cooking a lot. I like to receive compliments when dinner is served. I like to cook for people more than enjoying eating my cooking. I like to look for what to cook and ideas on the internet and learn the recipe.

Since I live alone, no as I am the only one to eat it. I just eat a lot of foods that I can microwave which is easier for me. Now when the kids were home and I was still married, I would cook all the time and now my daughter loves to cook as when she was growing up she would help me in the kitchen. She has a family of her own now, so she has to cook for her husband and my 3 year old grand son. I am glad that she learned from me though. Take care, and happy mylotting.

cooking is one of my passions in life, maybe because i L-O-V-E and truly appreciate food, most especially good food! when i was still working, even if we have a helper, I was still the one cooking our dinner. No matter how tired I was, my exhaustion is set aside when in the kitchen. i also love preparing the ingredients and dont mind cooking meals for hours. my favorite the i always cook is julia child's boeuf bourguignon. 4 hours of cooking well worth it!
unfortunately we cannot share recipes here, but here's my food blog: http://vannieskitchen.blogspot.com/ hope you visit it and my other blogs too!
