Well my mum sizes my friends up when she sees them.
Meaning, from one's overall outlook to the way he / she talks and behaves, my mum would somehow categorize them into group. And mostly into, good friends vs bad friends. And of course certain traits.
Eg. Those with beady eyes, they are normally selfish and not too easy to get along with. According to my mother.
And to an extent, i do size people up. Do you?

Of course, everyone does. First impressions are based on appearance and body language. Later impressions are formed as you get to know the person. My youngest daughter once brought home a boy who had "hood" written all over him because of the way he was dressed and the way he presented himself. It turned out that he wasn't as bad as we first thought...he was a musician and very shy so his outward appearance was more or less a shield.

Yeah...sometimes. It usually is from first impressions. When I say hello or hi to someone and that person didn't say hi back but just smiled I think that person has a somewhat reserved personality and I don't say hello twice. I'm not a pushy person. When I ask a person a question and the person just answers yes or no and wouldn't want a further comment or conversation then i think the person doesn't give a damn at all or just unfriendly. No big deal though. Everyone has his own thing so I can live with that.

yeah, i actually do size people up. sometimes you can tell what kind of person there is based on your first impression, though first impressions are not always accurate. however i would say about 95% of the first impressions i had of people I sized up were accurate. The remaining 5% were very good actors/actresses.
