Hi everyone,
Few weeks ago I watched 'Shutter' alone at night. It was a horror movie. Some scenes there just freaked me out, almost gave me heart-attack..lol. I was about to jump and scream. That night I could not sleep. But I enjoyed it. They other scary movies which I should mention are 'The Ring' and 'Grudge'. They can give you nightmares also.
So, what is the scariest movie you have ever seen in your life and what was your reaction after that?

The Exorcist is still the scariest movie I've seen to this day. I saw it when I was 11, and again at age 33. I think it's just the use of a child that makes it even more scary.
The second most scary movie I saw recently was Zombie's Halloween remake. Oh my lord!!! It was just disturbing, and it makes you start to question your own self as you watch.

I would agree with you on Shutter. Watched it in theater with two of my friends and we were like so freaking screaming like every 10 minutes, lol . I've watched the Exorcism of Emily Rose. It wasn't so scary but I'm just proud that I watched it alone, lol. Another good one is The Eye starring Jessica Alba. If you're really into screaming, Vacancy is the best, so thrilling.

Well, I am proud of myself that I watched Shutter alone. It was too scary. Especially the scene where the ghost was coming down through a ladder. I got surprised when my brother did not find it much scary. Anyway, thanks for your response. And I'll surely watch those movies that you mentioned here coz I do enjoy watching scary movies. Have a great day...

I really hope you watched original because American remake was truly piece of crap.
Scariest movie for me is definitely The Ring.

Hello dark!
I like those Asian scary movies, too. Not too gory, but so full of suspense. I saw "Shutter", too plus the other two movies you've mentioned. Was I creeped out at the scene when the man realized why his neck hurts all the time! After watching that movie, I avoided taking pictures for awhile. You can never be sure :)
I guess, the scariest for me, was the original version of "The Ring". It didn't help that we have a big TV inside our bedroom. And after watching that one, I really had a hard time going to sleep in the dark. I kept looking at the big TV screen, "wondering" if Sadako will crawl out from it!!! Yaiks!

I was never afraid of anything and even as a kid, I would walk into a cemetary at night and no movie ever scared me until on night in my late teens, I saw the movie: The Exorsist! I wasn't scared at all while watching it and wondered what all the fuss was about when suddenly the girl in the movie threw back her head, her throat swelled up, she made a sort of hissing sound and then slowly turned her head around and THAT'S when the blood drained out of my head, I got chills and felt like I was going to faint! I WAS SCARED!! For the first time in my life, I was scared! That sceen scared the sh*t out of me! Yes, the movie: The Exorsist did it for me!

Hi everyone, this is my first ever response to mylot .. i am very fond of watching scariest movies and mostly love to watch them when alone and in dark .. it doesn't mean i do not have a fear for ghosts or such things ... actually .. it is just opposite .. i am a very faint person when comes to ghosts. still i wish i could watch them with open eyes.
the ring is very good ..when seen grudge i found it scary too .. likes is darkwater.
a few days back i watched The Omen too but i found THE SHINING the most scariest .. the great act by Jack Nicholson and the mood of the movie. The sound effects are most impressive .. masterpiece horror of its genre. Watch it everybody.

I love scary movies and, although I will watch them and be terrified, there are none which have affected me enough for me to lose sleep, except for one, "Silence of the Lambs". Now, it wasn't as bloodcurdling as The Exorcist or The Shining and the like but because I had read that the film was based on a true story I was so scared when I got home and had to sleep alone! No other movie has affected me as much as this one.

The scariest was the original The Haunting. It was all done with sounds and hidden images, and I slept with the light on for weeks afterwards. The remake had a lot more SFX and was totally stupid, but the original was everything a good ghost film should be.

The scariest movie I've ever watch is the same as yours, "Shutter".... Oh my Gosh! even though I've watched it in the early afternoon with my friends, I can't take it. lol. I'm so scared for many weeks that I can't even sleep with the lights off or go out to the bathroom without asking my sister to accompany me... waaaaaaaaaah
and yes it gave me nightmares too and I can't look in the dark without imaging the woman ghost crawling on the floor to reach where I stood lol...
I can still remember it clearly up to now and that had been like almost 2 years ago

I never was really scared of a movie, I've jumped at scenes sometimes, sometimes had dreams about it but I do have a funny story about someone elses reaction to a movie, I was very young when the first scream movie came out, I remember I had to sit on my moms lap so I could see the screen becasue some really tall person sat right in front of me. I dont know if you seen that movie but theres a part where the killer pops out of a closet, and a girl in the front row screamed and ran out of the theater crying, she had to be like 20 some years old, lol my parents after seeing her reaction thought that they should ask me if I wanted to leave and I said no lol I enjoyed the movie too much.

Shutter is also the scariest movie I've ever seen! I watch a lot of horror movies but it was only with Shutter that I was anticipating every next possible scene. I mean, the feeling was consistent all throughout the movie. I could not relax for the entire duration I was watching. I think it left such an impression on me because the setting and environment is very similar to where I live, and it's easy to let my imagination get the better of me.
Oh and I was just wondering, but is it just me or does anyone else think that ghost flicks are generally scarier than slasher ones?

Easily the first "Alien" film. I watched it at the cinema and I really did not sleep to well that night which is highly unusual for me. That's one scary film. A close runner up might be "Carrie".
I've not seen the ones that you refer to, so I can't comment on them or compare them with the ones that I have seen. Maybe you can?

Hi darkdesire..
Mine would be Amityville Horror
I just watched it a couple days ago, and hell it's freaking me out..
Hahaa, I watched it together with my sister, and we kept watching it with no sound
Hahaaa.. Even we're afraid, we kept watched it till the end
What made us scared is that we also live in a storey house, and my sis room is the only room in the second floor
my sis saw a boy standing next to her bed when she was still a child
That bad experience kinda haunting us till now.. ;-P
Ah and the best thing from the movie that scares us is that it was "based on a true story"
...
Both of us can only stared at each other when we saw those words
Hahaaa, thanks !!

I would have to say, One Last Call, something like that.. I was very scared when I saw this movie. I could hardly ever sleep. I remember watching A Nightmare on Elm Street, with Freddy Kruger.. When I was very young this movie was very scary to me. So was Jason too. I have been scared on just about all horror movies. So, all I know that I will be so scared until I can't go to the bathroom by myself.. Or sleep alone in the bedroom either. I love horru movies! I love to be scared! But, I just don't want to be the one that is running for their life!
