The American media once again proves to be complete garbage.

I'm sure everyone here has now read the threads about Obama's cheapass gift to Gordon Brown of 25 DVDs after receiving priceless gifts of historical significance. Well I thought the story sounded too ridiculous to be true. I HAD to look it up. I HAD to research it. I figured it couldn't be real. They must have left something out. So what did I find in my search? ONE, yes ONE American news agency reported on it. I'm sure you can all guess who that one news agency was. I'll give you a hint, it wasn't MSNBC, ABC News, or CNN. Every other news agency reporting it was based in the UK. FYI folks, the British are NOT happy about this and they are NOT amused. Now they'll see that not only does our president have so little respect for their prime minister, but our own media, who many think represents us as much as the president, doesn't even care enough to report it. They are just going to ignore it and bury it the same way they do every other stupid or questionable thing he does. I am thoroughly disgusted with the media... again. Thank you Fox News for not joining everyone else in their goal to be the U.S. equivalent of Pravda. http://www.foxnews.com/politics/first100days/2009/03/06/obamas-blockbuster-gift-brown-dvds/ http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/worldnews/article-1159627/To-special-friend-Gordon-25-DVDs-Obama-gives-Brown-set-classic-movies-Lets-hope-likes-Wizard-Oz.html http://blogs.telegraph.co.uk/iain_martin/blog/2009/03/06/president_barack_obama_dislikes_britain_but_hes_keen_to_meet_the_queen http://www.spectator.co.uk/coffeehouse/3354471/the-apology-dvd-story-keeps-on-rolling.thtml http://www.guardian.co.uk/film/filmblog/2009/mar/06/obama-dvd-brown Where's this story in the U.S.? http://search.cnn.com/search.jsp?query=obama%20gordon%20brown&type=news&sortBy=date&intl=false http://www.msnbc.msn.com/?id=11881780&q=obama%20gordon%20brown&p=1&st=1 http://abcnews.go.com/search?searchtext=gordon%20brown&type= Is anyone else bothered by the fact that our media is covering up an insult to our greatest ally?

i was not aware of this!!!! (been working all day and drinking all night!! it's friday after all!) i have to say i am not an Obama fan....i tend to have a gut instinct about his long term policy's. i am not sure if you guys in the US got the film of Bush talking down to Blair during a UK visit when they thought the cameras were off. Blair laughed it off and i was disgusted. he should have popped him one!! I love the UK/US relationship but not in a political sense.

Could you link me to the episode between Bush and Blair? I'd like to see a video of it. I know I heard something about it, but it wasn't a big story like most of Bush's gaffes. The press NEVER hesitated to show gaffes and stupid activities of our former presidents. Everything from Clinton and Lewinsky and Bush Sr. at a banquet, we saw every president at their worst. Obama, however, seems to own the media. I'm telling you, they get more and more like Pravda every day. There's something he can discuss when he speaks with Putin.

It's seriously embarrassing. Somebody mentioned in another thread that this may be an intentional gaffe. A signal that the Obama administration doesn't intend to hold Britain as dear and close as the previous administration(s). Sort of like, we'll be friends alright, but not close friends. IMO, it's a bad move towards a country which has been a loyal ally for such a long time. Furthermore, insulting Britain, which is an influential country in the EU, well, relations with the EU will be strained as well. From what I gather, Merkel wasn't very impressed with Obama either, when he came to Berlin during his campaign. I suppose he is not ready to answer that 3 am phone call after all;)

Hello Taskr, I believe that it is highly appropriate to demand answers to the question of why our media has failed to report on this 'snub' issue. Criminies, it wasn't even just Barack Obama who snubbed Gordon Brown. Michelle Obama similarly snubbed Sarah Brown. http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/news/world/us_and_americas/article5848073.ece What's more, it isn't just the gift gaffe, the issue of the returned bust of Sir Winston Churchill has not been covered in the US media either -- and that was three weeks ago!!! We have turned over our national safety and well-being to this man who suggests it is possible to negotiate with the most heinous thugs on the planet. Yet, he has no basic understanding of the fundamentals of diplomacy? This is really very scary! Thank you for your skepticism of the 'apology' discussion. That kind of skepticism lies at the very heart of truth!

He doesn't care about Gordon Brown. He knows Brown is on his way out. Obama isn't interested in staying allies with U.K. or Israel. He's only interested in "talking" with Hezbollah and Iran...

Don't forget the Taliban, he wants to talk with them too! If anyone had suspicions that he was a sleeper agent for islamic extremists, this would serve as all the proof they'd need. Offend America's allies and apologize to her enemies - brilliant.

The mass media in America is no longer comprised of journalists with even the most remote sense of integrity, they have been replaced by shills for the Leper Messiah. Go see if anyone but Fox News bothered to report on Hillary Clinton's insulting "gift" to her Russian counterpart... the gift that was supposed to represent 0bama's and Biden's intentions for future diplomatic relations with Russia.

I'll ignore the pathetic mistranslation as we all know full well our politicians are too good to learn a second language. It is however, a rather pathetic gift even if it were translated properly. Her "gift" is something I'd expect a 12 year old girl to give to a friend after a fight at a slumber party.

It is a gift and it has some effect on the issue but still I would not wast y time on it, I'd rather have pres. obama resolving the economic crisis that's going around. That is where my real concern is and nothing more.

Many people are going with the gift...it isnt just the gift that is causing this uproar, it is the fact that he gave them the cheap gift, refused the gift he tried to give him. Spent a little amount of time with them, made them come in through a back or side door, and then turned around and made a big spectacle of inviting the former IRA person into the White House. He wasnt being the best representative for the AMerican people, he wasnt representing us in a way, most of us would like to be represented/
