In the US, there are a lot of healthcare insurance companies - Blue Cross, Blue Shield, Aetna, Kaiser, Cigna, etc. HMO, PPO, POS, EPOs - name it, they have it! In other countries, there are no insurance primarily because the government provides sufficient healthcare to the people. What is the best healthcare insurance in your country and why? Health is wealth. Hope to hear from you!

In Canada everyone who is a citizen or landed immigrant or other special status has compulsory health care coverage administered by the province in which they reside. While it might not be the best system, it has its faults, just as the American system has its faults. I understand Cubans have a very good health care system. Americans tend to spend a lot of their health care dollar on profit and administration instead of the actual hands on health care.

Yeah, Canada has a good system. Though a lot is saying that it takes time for you to avail of a benefit (which can take weeks or months for some procedures), i know it is free for all ... even tourists that need medical assistance.

I am in the Philippines too and I have coverage for SSS and Philhealth plus Maxicare Platinum. We do not have prescription benefits though like what others have. And similar to the US, it is tough to file for claims. Thanks for sharing.

i think maxicare is better medicard, the prefered HMO on our company. maxicare gives medical reimbursement on medicines/labs you taken.. medicard dont have that. they also provide bigger financial/medical support, but for single primary cardholder, you cannot add your brother/sisters as your dependent. parent are the eligable dependent for the single cardholder.

Well, I live here in the US. There is a lot of diversity anymore to Health Care, and Health Care plans as to what I think is best. A lot of it anymore I also tend to think depends on the plan itself, and what is offered for you as a worker for some company, or as an individual as well. It is getting expensive anymore to really know which is Best for sure. But I know personally I have always wished I could have had like Blue Cross, as I have heard that they are one of the better ones out there. Right now I have Pacific Medical which is thru United Healthcare, and it is OK. My Company where I work actually pays for it, so it is Free for me to have. Just has a Copay for prescriptions and medical apts. etc. which is actually not that bad. So it really depends I guess where you work for sure.

Well I am in the United States of America, so you know what kind of situation I am in. I lost my job in December, I have no health care insurance. I am on prescription medication. And all my health care provided could tell me was GOOD LUCK.

Tough times, really. Are you under COBRA now? 36 months coverage. But you still need to shell out money for that. Tough. Really tough.
