Have you been a victim of snatchers and pickpockets?

Yesterday while we were at the airport, my husband's airplane ticket which was placed in white envelope and tucked inside the back pocket of his pants was snatched. I just don't know if the snatcher's real interest was the envelop (who he might thought to contain money) or the wallet. Anyway, we just asked for another print out of his ticket and informed the check-in counter teller about the loss of my husband's ticket. When the passengers were all ready for boarding, my husband was paged informing him to claim his ticket from the teller as it was allegedly returned by a porter who found it in the waiting area. Funny, we haven't stayed in the waiting area.

Oh so good it came back. The snatcher's real interest was really the money. Last week in our school library, my companion took away my phone. I've got a witness and then I just found out that my companion's phone got lost also. And that week was the day of paying tuition fee so i've a gut that he sold my phone to pay his tuition. Consider how complex the society nowadays, it's the money that makes the people's wrongful act. Besides, we are in the midst of financial crisis and that snatcher's stomach might be starving so he'd thought of looking for a mean of feeding himself. And so that what had happened.

That was pretty bad. people should not take snatching, pickpocketing and stealing as a solution to the financial crises. We should do something to solve it. Thanks for sharing your thoughts.

Hi, All well that ends well(in Ur Husband's flight Ticket case!). Yes,I was also pickpocketed in my early days. I was left with no money in a complete unknown place. So helpless a situation. But like an angel came an OLD man,& gave me money to reach my destination. I shall never forget him, still I send Greetings in every New Year to him. i learned from him,I also try to help people in similiar situations, without any expectation of getting the given amoint back.I do it happily. =Lahiri,Kolkata, india.

That's surreal and you're so lucky in a way. There are only few people who would extend help to strangers. He must reallay be your angel. Thanks for responding.

I had a guy steal my purse one time. I was at Safeway and using a pay phone to call a friend to find out what kind of meat she wanted at the store. While i was on the phone this man came to the phone next to mine and preceded to act like he was making a call. Next thing i know (I had turned my back to him) I was being pushed into the coke machine that was next to the phone and my purse was being grabbed. Well I let go because i didn't want to be hurt but before i did he had tugged it abit. I was shaken but not hurt and when i looked down on the ground low and behold there was my wallet and and most of the contents of my purse on the ground. The crook got away with some make up. I sur hope he looked pretty lol.

He must be gay who is more interested in your makeup than the wallet itself. LOL. Kidding aside, it is better to let go of your material possession than be hurt or worst, get killed. I hope that won't happen again.

I would hate to be jacked by anyone. I don't know why people do it even if they can't afford to buy it. Thet should learn to save up.

What a shame that happened it was a good job he did not have a lot of cash in his wallet as well, these people are so quick.Whilst on holiday a few years ago we attended a fire works display in Devon England.I felt this young girl in my bag,I immediately zipped my bag up and she said she fell against me them took off into the crowd,I found a policeman told him what happened and he took off after her he seemed to have an idea of who she was, must have their regulars I think.luckily I don't carry much cash and did not lose anything.Still made me feel awful for a while though.

These pickpockets have "special talents" on getting things so quickly. The taking of my husband's ticket happened in a split seconds. It was a lesson learned. thanks for responding.

I lost my suitcase twice while traveling in the train. It was actually stolen while I was asleep. Once I was mugged at a knife point by four goons, while I was alone in a compartment during night. They took away my money and the wrist watch but threw away the empty wallet. I reported to the police but while taking down the report I felt they were aware who did it because they know who operate in their area. I never got the things back.

Somebody probably did pick it out of his pocket thinking it had money in there. Then just dumped it wherever they could once they discovered no cash. That is what happened to my wallet several years ago. They took it from my purse in the employee breakroom at a department store (You'd think you could trust those you work with) They took the cash out of it and threw the wallet with my drivers license and stuff in it down in the store underneath a rack of clothing.

I agree with you. The pickpocket probably thought that the envelope was full of money but he was wrong. When that incident happened, I was so glad to have realized that the money of my husband was put in the inside pocket of his jacket. Thanks for sharing your experience and thoughts.

When I was 14, my mobile phone was stolen in my bag when I was on my way home from school. I was on a jeepney and when I got home, I found my phone is not on my bag, I searched my pockets and it wasn't there. After that, luckily, I've never experienced being pickpocketted or snatched anymore.

Luckily I have never been a victim of any pickpocket or any snatcher. But my sister lost his blackberry phone inside a mall. There were plenty of people at that time and she was lining up to pay in the counter. Next thing she knew, here blackberry phone was gone. Luckily, her wallet inside here bag was still there. It is really sad to note that there are a lot of bad people nowadays. What is worst is that it happened inside the mall.

Yes, I have been pick pocketed several times. I used to work at a major department store in the corporate. One day I went down stairs to see what was on sale, because there was a bigh sale going on. A woman bumped into me, and I did not think anything of it. When I went to the elevator to return to my office, I realized that I did not have my ID BADGE, which was in my wallet. When I checked my purch, my wallet was gone. I immediately went to customer service, and another woman was going there also, she had my wallet in her hands, which she said she found in the bathroom on the floor. Evidently the woman who pick pocketed me, thought there would be money in my wallet, but after I was pick pocketed the first time, I stopped carrying money in my wallet. So I guess since there was no money in it, it was of no value to her. I am glad that I got all of my pictures and license back. I no longer carry a wallet with me, my money is always tucked in my pockets.

When the pickpockets realize that the wallet they took from somebody has no money in it, they just leave it anywhere they want. I also don't carry a wallet with me because that's always the target of pickpockets and snatchers. happy mylotting.

Somebody must have thought that the white envelope was full of cash huh? Nope, i never had any experience about being snatched. I have always been careful about my surroundings and always been aware of it. I do tap my wallet from time to time to check if it's still there. Well my sister has always been a victim, and my mom too. I don't know if they have learned their lessons already.

Oh, that's too bad for your sister and mom to be victimized by these snatchers. We should always keep watch of our belongings whereever we are and we should keep our wallet close to our body always. Thanks for responding.

Yes I have had my purse stolen with £40 in it. I was shopping for clothes and I had my handbag on the push chair and i was looking at some clothes and didn't find out my purse was stolen until I was about to pay for something. I couldn't believe that someone done that but I was lucky my baby wasn't stolen!! I always stay close to the push chair now!

When I shop, I don't put my bag in the shopping cart because there is a tendency for me to forget it there. I always carry them because I have seen many times on TV people being victimized by snatchers while shopping around the mall. Always keep your baby close to you too. thanks for responding.

Being a victim of snatching and pickpocketing will really make every victim cry. It's frustrating to lose something which you dearly behold. A cellphone is a possession which we treasure. Hope you won't become a victime of snatching again.

I believe so, it was the money that was the real interest of the snatcher. The snatcher might have been looking around for some victims and my husband became an easy target. . .It's a pity for the family to be fed using the money illegally taken. Thanks for responding.

I haven't had this happen but have seen demonstration on TV where the people were expecting the pickpocket and still didn't notice it. It's a sure way to make you feel uneasy. I try to be observant when I'm out in a crowd but I don't fool myself I'm sure I'd be an easy target. Glad it all turned out OK for you.

Just once and it happens in the market where there are lots of people milling around. My mother sent me there to buy fresh fish for our dinner. I'm busy choosing the fresh fish but when I'm about to buy 1 kilo, I just realized that my wallet was no longer in my pocket. That was a very bad day for me.

Yeah. A couple years ago we were at the post office and someone stole our money order for $200.00 us dollars. And I'm sure it was caught on tape who did it. The person picked it up so fast and we don't know who did it. But I had a feeling who may have done it, but I did not want to accuse anyone unless I was 100% sure! I just know they were near us when it was stolen. But I did not see them do it. It's horrible loosing that much money!

I hate the snatchers and pickpockets. They are immoral. They should be punished by law and condemned by people.
