Most diet pop is made with aspartame. this is a sugar substitute that is used in place within diet coke, pepsi and faygo as well as many other diet sodas. Unless stated on the label (example: Diet soda made with splenda) almost every diet soda is made with this ingredient. Aspartame actually has several negative side effects that greatly outnumber the benifites. Number one, aspartame actually causes brain hemoraging. Another side effect caused by aspartame is insuline resistance. This basically causes a diebetic's body to no longer accept there insulin as effectivly as before and cause hyperglycemia. How much diet soda do you drink? Do you think that the side effects are worth "benifites"?

I used to drink diet soda when I figured that it would help me lose weight. Of course it didn't work. If you want to lose weight the best thing to do is not drink soda's at all. I've heard aspartame helps with arthritis, I don't know if its true, but that is what I heard. As for the side effects of diet soda, I think any kind of soda is bad for you in the long run. Of course, if you are a diabetic and you want to drink soda than diet soda is all you should drink but I wouldn't overdo it. Moderation in anything is always best.
