What are your means to counter recession?

The global financial turmoil is being felt anywhere in the world. Are you affected? If so, then what are your means to survive the recession period? Have you made any changes to your lifestyle? Well, I'm being affected in a way that I am having difficulty finding a better job. As much as I want to shift to a new job, I just couldn't because I know it would be tough finding another employment and means to make ends meet. While I decided to trim my lifestyle a little bit, I guess I haven't done much better in terms of keeping my earnings.
