Do you like movies with happy endings, or do you prefer movies that are more sad/thoughtful? Why do you feel this way? Name some good examples of what you're talking about! (And by movies with sad/thoughtful endings, I'm referring to any kind of movies like Seven Pounds, Titanic, Pan's Labyrinth, City of Angels, and so on). I personally like movies with happy endings; because seeing them motivates me (in some weird sort of way); whereas sad endings usually leave me depressed. What about you guys?

Happy Endings for me. As much as i wanna be sarcastic and stuff, i still prefer happy endings as it kinda leaves you happy too and the whole "lived happily ever after" thing. I just watched Seven Pounds last night btw. Sad endings are ok, but only some of them leaves you satisfied unlike those movies with happy endings.

Thanks for your honest response! What did you THINK of Seven Pounds? I think that movie ended happily.. for the blind guy and the girl (sort of). Not necessarily for Will Smith, though, the poor guy.

LOL So you like to use movies as a way to get closer to your girlfriend, and you also like them because you like being able to relate to the characters in them? That's fair enough. But don't you like movies that make you think on a bigger, deeper level? Maybe on an "existential" level? Hmmm..

I depends on the movie I guess, but I think I love those kind of movies whose twists and turns are unpredictable. Its fair anyway if its a happy one, especially giving justice to the lead actor who do all the pains that he went through (lol), I recently well just a couple of hours I was watching "Bedtime stories" where Skeeter Boston (played by Adam Sandler) who doesnt necessarily believed in happy endings but later changed his perceptions that he needs a good and happy one, since first of all he was the hero of his heroic acts role in his stories, anyways, I'm fine with happy endings than with the tragic ones.

Except the sciefic ones other movies are based on real life or they are supposed to reflect real life or who would go to the theater to view something too unrealistic to enjoy. This naturally brings the natural flow as it happens in our real life. So there should not be any question of happy ending or sad ending. It should be just like our day to day life. What say?

So you don't enjoy any movies that aren't like your daily life? That sounds a little boring. I'm guessing you're not a Harry Potter fan, then, are ya?

I like movies with good endings.Because that's more realx and happy. But most people think that the sad movies let them remember the stories, even though it is a sad one.

Thanks. I agree, you leave the theater more happy & relaxed. But does that make it a better movie? Is the purpose of a movie solely to make us happy after we watch it?

I do agree with you - I think people want to see things that they find realisitc, and like being able to connect their lives with the lives of characters in the movie. And you can't really do that when there's a sad ending - it doesn't give you very much hope for the future.

I enjoy movies with sad ending more I suppose. I love movies like A Walk to Remember and Pay It Forward. It shows you that even though there is bad in the World you can make the best out of your life no matter how short lived. Life isn't prefect but if you make the most of it you'll always be remembered and make others lives better for knowing you.

Good answer! I can't decide if I consider A Walk to Remember as having a sad ending. It's not really sad..Because Landon is totally reconciled and at peace at the end, and it seems like he really appreciated having Jamie in his life. (Sorry if that was a spoiler to those who haven't seen it.. lol..Oops!). I haven't seen "Pay it Forward" yet but I've heard it was a good one! I really like similar movies to "A Walk to Remember", though, because they don't really END all that sadly. It's like, sad events happen - but it ends on a resolute note. Know what I mean?

I like movies with happy endings. They just make you FEEL better about yourself and make the movie really enjoyable. I mean, why can't we have thought-provoking movies that also have happy endings? Why does it have to be one way or another?
