How to take snaphots using Nikon Coolpix camera in Laptop ?

Hi everyone I have a Nikon Cool pix camera with USB cable, which i can connect to my Laptop. Now I can access only the images stored in the folder of camera. But I want a software through which i can use this camera to capture images from my Laptop to take snapshots. And as this camera has 6 Mega Pixel resolution, the snapshots taken should also have that much resolution. Can anyone suggest me the best software just for capturing hi quality images and not for video recording...? Thanks in advance for your answers.

Did you check whether your camera supports this functionality? If your camera has an inbuilt webcam functionality, the support CD will contain the required software and drivers. You may go through the manual of your camera for detailed specifications and functionality.
