If I don't come to Malaysia in Dec 2006 and live here, I think I don't know about Briyani, Tandoori and Nan bread. But, now Briyani is one of my faves food, especially, when it is served on banana leaf. I don't prefer chicken to take with Briyani but I always enjoy with tuna head curry also the "papedom" and "shatini pudina". That is my set Briyani serving, that I really enjoy at Indian food shop.
Coupled up with spicy curry really toothsome meal that makes me take, at least, once a week. One more to add, the "capati" also a very good bread type of food(sorry if I am wrong spelled it), also when eaten with tuna fish curry. Whatever, the delicious curry gravy that make things really nice to enjoy. Banana leaf as a plate, much help to promote my appetite really up to the satisfaction enjoying Briyani and "capati".

yeah...you're right, I spelled those accordingly to Malaysian Indian shop wrote it that way. I love eating Indian cuisines served with banana leaf, something which I never done it before during my past time, it is a new way for me and I like it very much. Cheers! uniquestar!

hello there,
i see that you are from Malaysia. good that you liked biriyani.....in fact i am surprised you know so many Indian dishes.
ha ha....and yes, you misspelled almost every dish there.....but that hardly matters....good that you enjoy them......
eating on a banana leaf is a south Indian tradition and its good that you had the experience of it...its so old...people hardly eat on leafs now..plates are much more comfortable....even we get to try it very rarely....only if someone arranges a traditional feast..
and yes chapati is one of the staple foods of north India, just like rice.
have a nice day.

Hello my friend uniquestar Ji,
I am pure vegetarian, but may not reject people fond of eating same. I have seen
people enjoying biryani."This is a delicious Pakistani/Indian rice dish which is often reserved for very
special occasions such as weddings, parties, or holidays such as Ramadan. It has a
lengthy preparation, but the work is definitely worth it. For biryani, always use
long grain rice. Basmati rice with its thin, fine grains is the ideal variety to use.
Ghee is butter that has been slowly melted so that the milk solids and golden liquid
have been separated and can be used in place of vegetable oil to yield a more
authentic taste."May god bless you and have a great time.

Hello, uniquestar!
I do know what biryani is, it's one of my favourite chicken dishes, I recently had it, it was yesterday, I love it if an oversupply of spices are used, water starts running down your eyes, but you still love eating it! and can't stop untill each and every grain of rice on the plate is digested, then you run to get some more :)
I guess having biryani was my last good meal, but I don't know since lunch hasn't been served yet!
jziakhan.

hello uniquestar
i have never before heard of chicken biriyani, but the chicken sounds different and delicious thou and i would love to try some of that sometime as well. i am going to have to search the internet or through my cookbooks to see if i can find myself a recipe for chicken biriyani. thanks for sharing that with us all around here at Mylot who has never heard of that kind of chicken dish before, for people like me. and i like chicken prepared about any different kind of way that you can possibly think about fixing it. chicken salad, chicken nachos, chicken taco salad, bbq chicken, fried chicken, chicken in casseroles, buffalo spicy chicken wings, grilled chicken, roasted chicken you name it, there is no wrong way to fix chicken. i have wanted to try a recipe for chicken adobo (and i do not know if i spelt that correctly or not) and my family and myself had pizza for our dinner tonight.
take care and have a beautiful evening.

Infact I ha Hyderabadi Biryani just yesterday when my friends parents treated our whole group to a lunch in a restaurant. And guess what we were all draped in dresses which were full of colours as we had just celebrated Holi in college. We had got odd looks from the people sitting in the restaurants but we had a nice time!I like anything chicken though hot garlic Chicken is my favourite!

I like chicken with peppers. I serve it over pasta or rice. Depending on what mood I am in I will either make it hot and spicy by adding hot peppers or relatively mild by using just sweet peppers. I am sad to say I don't know what chicken biriyani is but I think I will research it and give it a try as I am always looking for new ways to fix chicken.

Hi uniquestar! There are some restaurants here in my area that serves Indian food and chicken biriyani is one of the dishes they offer. I have tasted it before and it is really good. I do have my own favorite chicken dish which is Chicken Adobo locally served here in my native land. i just had that yesterday and I was very satisfied as well as my husband.
Take care and blessings to you!

I never heard of biriyani, what is in the dish. I love to have chicken, broccoli and rice, with a sauce over it.
