Dealing with cronic illnesses

I am in a family with several different chronic illnesses and cancers from Multiple Sclerosis, Rumatoid Arthritis, Breast Cancer, Diabetis, Non-Hogkins lymphomia, and Parkinsons disease. I feel that a lot off these disease are caused by environmental factors. The other thing that bothers me is the whole family feels helpless because a lot of these there are no cures or treatments for the advanced stages or complications.
