My five week old nephew will drink his bottle (similac milk) but will not keep it on his stomach. We warm the milk but its the same. We put karo oil or something ike that in it but its the same. What do you think the problem is?

He might have a problem with the formula. You can try a different kind just don't switch too often because his upset stomach may get worse. My brother used to projectile vomit when he was a baby and had to be put on cow's milk as an infant but that should be something discussed with his pediatrician. My husbands niece had to drink goats milk so you never know it may be the milk protein or just that particular brand of formula. I was allergic to milk so I had to drink soy formula as a baby. Also, handling a baby too much after feeding especially if he isn't burping much can cause the spit up. If there is too much air in the baby's stomach he'll spew up everything so make sure he is getting burped enough during and after his bottle. Good Luck!

Also, I wanted to add that Similac is a very heavy formula (especially with the added iron). I know many babies of family and friends that couldn't drink Similac. So he might just need a change of formula afterall. We all used Isomil (pardon the spelling).

First of all - stop adding things to the milk!
Second: check if he is allergick to milk - if he is - do not change to soy - since the protein in soy is similar to the one in cows milk - so it will be a big risk he will get an allergy for soy as well.
Third: some babies throws up a lot! It's just a thing some of them do, it may look like it's very much, even if it's not much at all.

Hi brownbeauty;
I think if you are having this problem you should seek medical advice. Call the pediatrician. They are only a call away, and can probably offer some suggestions while you wait to get into the office. Doctors are on call, even on the weekend.

He may have a milk intolerance he may need to drink soy Enfamil or Similar. My son couldn't handle similac milk either so the Doctor switched him to soy and he did fine. Maybe ask your Doctor about changing his formula.

maybe he's always full? maybe he is at once carried after drinking his milk? it must be either of the two. the baby wouldn't drink his milk if he doesn't like it.
