Now that Oscar Fever has gone, I am just curious to know your opinions on whether the film will be remembered or stay in the memories for a long time.. Also, was it worth the Oscars? It is a good movie, but I don't think it is exceptional to win the Oscars.

I think it absolutly deserved the oscars that it got. The movie was really fantastic, great visuals and cinematography, and interesting storyline pushing the directions of real life in an environment that does exist, but almost seems like a fantasy world to the British and American viewers. At the same time, it had deep philosophical directions, in the twists between the mono and polytheists, which has been a long standing issue in India. I think a better question would be, where is this movie bad? It made me laugh, made me cry, gave me shock, filled me with action... it had everything that a great film should have. What did you see as bad about it?

True, it indeed is a good movie. No doubts about that. Nothing bad about it except for a few who think India has been portrayed on the negative side ( The story and the fact is that India has these sorry conditions - Can't Help it ) But then, I didn't feel it was way too exceptional for an oscar. Probably it is because of the different story base than most other hollywood films, that fetched it 8 oscars. Being used to Indian Drama & Masala Movies, it was just another fine movie for me. My question here again is will it be remembered for long?

yeah i agree, i thought it was a good film that i would watch again but i don't understand why people have been going crazy about it. I think its probably due to the fact a big part of the film is about the poverty some people are living in in india. But it didn't seem that real to me, because the boy who was on the millionaire show has been in skins if you've ever seen that, and he plays a completely different role

I have a friend who is obsessed with this movie. He was actually adopted from India and brought to the US when he was a baby, so he feels a personal connection to this movie. My mother and I were watching the Oscars, saw all of the awards that it was winning, and listened to the music. I was intrigued, so the next week my mother, grandmother, and I went to go see Slumdog Millionaire. At first, I wasn't sure if I was going to like it. However, as the story went on I found myself getting into it, on the edge of my seat, waiting to see what happened next. At the end I was happy and satisified. Since then I have been back to see it again and I am going again next week. I feel that this movie was exceptional and definitely deserved every Oscar it got.
