Why do we sneeze usually twice or thrice and not once?

My cousin asked me this question just to get a blank expression on my face!
What a question! I took me through thought process and I am still wondering when we sneeze why is it always 2 or 3 at a time..

I think you could answer that question but answering why a person sneezes in the first place. Besides i have seen someone sneeze only once. Then there is me who when i sneeze its never fewer than about four times and as many as ten times in a row. Looking on Wikipedia there can be a few causes on why a person sneezes, usually to get an irritant out of the nasal mucosa, so i guess sometimes it takes a few sneezes to get the irritant out??

hey thanks for the response... So we can say that not all the irritants get out on the first sneeze and we need more to completely wipe it off!

Sneezing is very good action to a healthy man. But it should be one or two times in a day.If the quantity of sneezing increases ,then it is called disease.
The disease which causes by dust or smoking or by using cold things . The disease is called allergy or Asthama.
This disease is curable and can be controlled by doing light excercises daily.

Im sorry i have to disagree...you can not cure sneezing by exercise.

I have not done any research on sneezing and when I find the funding for that I will embark on this wonderful frontier. Cheers!!
