to tell the truth? I know some of you out there will be going "Ohn yes, of course it is!" but think about it, how often do you lie? be honest. If the truth is gonna get you a whole bunch of grief, even though you hvaent done anything wrong, is it worth telling the truth?

I've always been a lousy liar...and I always get caught. I guess I'll never be able to be a polititian...lol. For me, honesty is the best policy, since if I've done something wrong, nothing worse can happen after I've admitted it. Now, there is a grey area where honesty is concerned. I don't like to intentionally hurt peoples feelings, especially the friends who I know don't really want the truth. For example, if a friend asked if a particular item of clothing made her look fat...I might say that the color looks nice on her. I haven't answered the question, but I've turned it into a positive.

There are times for lying, and there are times for the truth. I have told the truth, even when it was going to be hard on me, and was treated like scum. But if I hadn't spoken, the wrong person would have been blamed.
Other times, nothing on this earth will force me to tell the truth. Like if someone asks "Am I fat?" yeah, I'm gonna answer that! NOT! If it involves principle, it is better to tell the truth, for your own sake and ethics. If it means hurting someone by speaking the truth, not involving a job, no. It's not necessary to hurt someone's feelings just to say the truth.

No matter how difficult the truth.. it is always better to "out" it, because if you don't it will more than likely come back and bite you so hard, and the pain will be tremendous for the person whom you did NOT relate the truth too! There are ways of telling the truth, gently, with the least impact possible, and still being totally honest! Spare the feelings, silver-coat it a bit...but out with it, I will respect you a heck of a lot more! Cheers!

Nah, its not ALWAYS better to tell the truth, but sometimes there is no other thing as good as telling truth...
We always lie, everytime i decide to wake up in the morning, I lie to myself in the morning and compel myself to sleep (Here truth would've been so nice !). Everytime I decide my study timetable, I lie to myself. Well come to think of it, I lie more to myself than anyone else...

In my case, I think it is better for me to tell the truth -- always. I always get caught that I lied in the end so I have decided long ago LOL! to face the consequences now and tell the truth than lie now and get caught later. I do not like liars anyway so I have to be honest myself. Have a nice day!

Yes, most people should tell the truth, but there are always exceptions. I mean, if you ate the last cookie from the jar and your brother really wanted it, it is best to tell the truth. Are you going to? Probably not. That kind of lie is harmless and telling the truth wouldn't result in a much greater outcome. However, lets spice things up and say that the cookie was made out of solid gold and you stole it from your brother who has spent his entire life earning on making it., then that would be bad. It all depends on the situation and the outcome as to why you need to tell the truth.
