Well here in Minnesota we now have another $1 added to each pack. I smoke a lot and this higher price has now made me buy roll your own tobacco. It is a lot cheaper and I feel I'll smoke less and possibly qwuit due to the high cost now. A pack here in Minnesota is now up to $5.50 a pack. A week ago they were $4.10 a pack. How much are cigarettes in your area per pack? Do you smoke? Has the higher prices caused you to quit smoking and or change the way you smoke now days? HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

As you know I quit in 1996 but I called the store to find out the price and a package of 25 costs 12.98 a package and a carton (10 pkg.) is 116.50, which is a saving of one package. Thank Goodness I quit!!!

I should have mentioned as well these prices do not include the tax and here we pay PST as well as GST. We have to pay both Provincial sales tax as well as Government sales tax.

I quit 2 yrs. ago, one of the smartest and best things I ever did. Since then I have no idea how much cigs cost now. I would probably be rollin my own too if I had to pay that much for a pack. Good luck on quitting if thats what you decide to do.

they just raised it to 6 and change here..and are supposed to raise it another dollar. i'll have to quit soon,it's getting too expensive. the thing i don't like is when they get away with overtaxing one thing, they'll use that as an excuse to tax another..and another.it'll probably be coffee next.

I think they are 4 something a pack here for major brands. I never buy them any more but my husband and son do and I haven't ask them lately how much they cost. I know years ago when I did smoke and times were really hard on us being young with a family we would buy the stuff and roll our own a lot of times. My husband and son also smoke outside or in the garage when it is cold or raining (yes it used to rain down here) and they have cut back because of that. I wish they would quit but as an ex smoker I don't dare harp on them or anyone since I know it is hard to quit.

I get my smokes from the native reservations tax free. Unfortunatly now all of a sudden NY state is flipping out about the natives being able to sell them tax free. They've been doing it for as long as I can remember, but I guess the state is getting greedy. They can't touch the reservations, so they're going for the suppliers now. There was a sign on the door the other day when hubby went to get our smokes that they'll now be going up $6-10 per carton.

They are also tax free at the reservations here, but they still raised their prices as well just to keep up with other businesses. HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

Apacket of smokes cost about £5.45 in England roll my own mainly now.I expect to give up but it is so hard after smoking so long.Cut down a great deal only on about ten a day now depending on what sort of a day I have,a busy one then less.a slow boring on a few more,I am itching to get out into the garden but we are still getting frosts and sleet so not much chance spring will turn up soon I hope.

I don't smoke but I talked with someone who told me on a vacation she paid $7 a pack. OUCH! Those prices must make quitting look very enticing.

I remember finding deals abt 5 yrs ago for hubby at 4pks for $10 and now like you said it's $4.80 on sale to almost $6 here. My hubby has also started to roll his own and invested in a machine as it's 50% cheaper to roll your own as you know Grandpa Bob. I wish he'd quit as both his parents have cancer, but that's not enough to get him to quit but atleast it's cheaper.

My husband smokes (close to two packets a day), and they are more than $11 per pack here. I wish the high cost of them would encourage him to give up, but sadly, people's addictions always come first. My husband would rather smoke than eat, so it doesn't matter what price they put on them - he'll still do it! Good luck to you on giving up, GB - I hope you manage it!

All set and done but I would suggest one thing that you should not smoke much as smoking is not good for health. Try and avoid smoking as far as possible.

I switched a couple of months ago from Marlboros to Dorals because they had increased in price. Yesterday I was in the convenience store and noticed that the price of Marlboros had jumped from $5.00 a pack to $6.25! Does anybody know if that was a tax increase (which I had heard was coming) or if the manufacturer raised the price--or if it was both!!?? I live in Iowa, and we already had a major tax increase last year. This is just getting ridiculous!!

I also smoke 3-4 cigrttes a day.But i yhink raising the Taxes will not help you out from this addiction,if you think that way then you are wrong.Though i also smoke, and i know yhat you will always find the ways to satisfy the hunger, itdoesnot matter howmuch it costs.Govt also know these things ,Paradoxicaly on one hand they talk about health and on other hand they give permit to yhese companies. If you re really interested in health ban these companies first.

Wow... that's cheap. Ours are over £5.00 a pack because of the tax piled on them. £5 is equivalent to about $7 now, so I think I might pop over for some ciggys! lol. I did cut down to about half of what I was smoking when the ban first came in but I'm halfway between the two now, so it hasn't really helped me stop. They seem to go up with each budget anyway. I ought to quit soon... I did it once before and it's only really a habit, although cheaper than some habits I could mention. lol. Brightest Blessings, my friend.

I will be cutting way back....I only buy a pack at a time as I can't stand the sticker shock....I was wondering if maybe a class action discrimination law suit would be in order for picking on the smokers....maybe the could raise the price of something else for a change!

I don't smoke that much anymore. My brand still costs $3.09 a pack, up $.10 from last week. I go through maybe 3 packs a week, compared to a carton and a half last year. Still, that's too much. It really helps that I don't smoke in the house, especially when it's cold and snowy outside! I now feel that I can stop nearly any time I want with a patch or even without one, which is a liberating thought. I just don't want to right now. I used to roll my own. They have some very nice, inexpensive machines now that put the filters on and everything. My sister in law rolls her own and they're very good!

Wait only 5.50??? no wonder my dad says the states has cheap cigerattes. I picked a pack of dumaurier for him last night and it was 13.90. Its freakishly expensive here. My boyfriend always REALLY complains when he comes from there runs out and has to buy them here. When i go there i pick a case? (whatever ya wanna call the multiple pack packs) and take them home for my dad. I dont smoke myself.

Time for me to cut even further back or quit altogether. Last week they were 4.59 per pack of 20, this week they're 4.90 a pack, and the clerk said they'd be going up again soon. I quit 10 years ago when they went up to $2 a pack, but after about 3 years I hit a severe emotional crisis and went back to my "crutch". Stoopid move. Now I've gotta quit all over again.

Yeah, I do smoke and I am going to have to stop smoking soon because I can't afford it! I don't think anyone will be able to smoke soon.
