This photo is of my Sunday Dinner for March 8th, 2009. It is a Pork Shoulder Roast with baby carrots, butter, water, sliced onions, whole garlic clopves, and Mrs. Dash seasoning added. I am cooking it in my crockpot and it takes about 7 hours this way; but it leaves all the juiices in ther meat as opposed to roasting or baking it in the oven and it becoming kind of dry tasting. Do you eat pork more than beef? Have you ever had a pork shoulder roast at all? Do you cook with a crockpot/slow cooker at all?

I'll normally buy a very large pork loin a couple times a month. I can get 3 meals out of this pork loin. I'll normally make at least one of the dinners into pork chops. This week we're doing 2 pork chop meals and 1 pork roast. I season the pork roast with whatever happens to be lying around the house.

I don't make pork a lot as it is not one of my favorite meats. But once a month is the average we eat prok around here. Other than ham for sandwiches that is.

I serve meat with every meal, and we eat chicken and pork the most. I will serve beef 3 t 4 times a month, but try not to do more than that.

My hubby and I use the crockpot a lot he usually does all the cooking. He makes pork chops, boneless chicken, pork roast and many more things in the crockpot. Everything in the crockpot comes out more tender.

WE don't tend ot eat a lot of pork AGB - the other half doesn't like it that much! I do however love my slow cooker and we would be lost without it - as oyu say the meat doesn't dry out and is so tender it almost melts in your mouth! WE make casseroles in there, soups and all sorts, I love the fact that you could put it all in in the morning and dinner is ready at the right time too - and if someone is late home just turn the slow cooker to low and it will keep for them! xxx

Pork is a lot healthier for the body than beef is.

Yep but can't get the other half to eat it other than the occasional bit of bacon. I get quite anaemic as well and from what I understand Beef has more iron in it - although I could be wrong. We don't tend to eat a LOT of red meant - chicken is the favourite in our house. Chicken Chausseur is fantastic in the slow cooker too! xxx

I bet it will be good...looks good. I cook with my crockpot all the time, its easy just put your roast or whatever in it and walk away and let it do its thing. I cooked a pork shoulder roast not too long ago, when it was done, I shredded it up and added some bbq sauce to it and we had pulled pork sandwiches, I also did that with a beef roast before that, it sure was good.

Haha..It'll be your lazy day to spend on the computer, since you've got everything else done...then you can even eat leftovers, no cooking there either, just heat and eat, thats what I like about the crockpot, you can make enough for at least two meals..haha.

I love pork but pork don't always like me. I have had pork shoulder roast many times and they are delicious. I have a crockpot and don't use it too often. If I hadn't just had pork last night yours would sound so good but I am still paying the price for eating mine. For me I would rather have fish than pork or beef.

I am not a big pork lover myself. But a local grocery store had this specific prepared packaged brand (Hormel) on sale and we also had a manufacturers coupon for it and it cost a total of $3 was all. So this is a meal that cost about $5 total and it will feed 6 to 8 people counting leftovers. Can't beat that price.

I do cook alot in the slow cooker....Just a couple of weeks ago I made a Jenni-o turkey tenderloin..garlic and lemon...it was awesome. I also do alot of pork loins as my son works at Hormel and gives me some. I like that with sweet potatoes under it in the cooker....with alittle brown sugar over it...the lay the loin on top and serve it with a cherry sauce. I do like beef though but since I am alone I only make it when I am getting company.

Growing up the only time I was able to eat pork is when my father was off the island. Then I met my ex boyfriend and when it is not fish, chicken it is pork. Now I don't even like the smell of pork. But your pic surely looks good. I hope you enjoyed your sunday dinner Grandpa Bob

I can find pork cuts, like roasts and chops cheaper than beef so I use it often. I like the crockpot for a pulled pork recipe that is so easy, made with gingerale. I cook it overnight, and finish it the next day. My husband likes to cook pork chops on the grill, and he does it even in freezing weather. They are as good as steak cooked that way.

That looks delicious!! Thank you for reminding me to take the roast out of the freezer, I would've completely forgotten if not for your post! I do eat more chicken and pork than beef, although I don't eat all that much meat anymore. I have a roast in the freezer that will shortly be moved so I can cook it tomorrow. I'll put some of it in the crockpot for stew and sandwiches and slice off a couple of thin pieces to cook with onions and bell peppers and potatoes. I'll take a picture of it when it's done as long as we're sharing cuisine photos!

When I was a child, my mother used to make pork shoulders. I do not eat pork any longer or beef. Whenever I make beef stew for my husband I will use my crock pot. I love it, just put the ingredients in it and forget about it for six or seven hours. Like you said, when you cook something in the crock pot it is more tender and juicier than baking or roasting.
Enjoy your meal

Hi GRANDPA BOB,
That dinner looks very tasty, you are very good but my husband is useless, he can't cook. I love pork but we don't have it that often and beef is lovley and we have that not as often as lamb, lamb and chicken is what we eat most. I just cook them in the oven.
