The Park Bench Said to Me...

"Please sit here, in the sun, as Sarah did." That has to be my favorite "in memory of" line I've read engraved on a park bench. "This one's for Mary, an ageless mother" and "For Sally who loved all children" are ones that I have not forgotten. Do you read what the park bench is trying to tell you? Or do you just sit on it?

There is one across the street that I have sat on but never yet read the inscription, but another says Relax, Reflect, and something else that starts with an R, but I cannot remember what the third R is. I like the Sarah one very much too. Today we sat on one called "Buzzard's Bench." It was rustic and felt warm with the sun on it and a cool wind blustering about.

Kilroy, you mean? Buzzard's Bench is on the edge of civilization, where if it got any more remote the buzzards would be circling around in the sky above, looking for the weak to prey upon. It is a desert term.

Oh, okay... Thanks for clearing up the Buzzard's Bench concept. Yes, Kilroy. It started to bug me but I knew you would get tell me eventually. Is it relax, reflect and reminisce?

Have you an idea why it's named Buzzard's Bench? Is that some person's pet name or something? I can't remember that character you talked about before... the character "was here" guy...

You seem to be reading a lot signs everywhere Saitanne The only signs and words we get to see on park benches here are hearts drawn by those bitten by cupid or some nuts who write thier name and say "... was here"

I seldom sit on a Park bench, but once on a visit to Tombstone Az. I was walking through the Town Cemetery when I saw this Epitaph, Here lies Les Moore Four shots from a 44 no Less no More.

Earlier today I took a little walking break, and sat on a bench to re-tie my shoe. There was a very neatly printed little sign that said, "What are you doing here? Get off your butt and do something!" I did - I continued my walk and soon went home to get back to work.
