Haircut ideas?

I have nearing shoulder length very fine, pin straight hair. And it's getting so boring. I'm trying to come up with a good haircut, that isn't a pixie (my husband won't let me!).
My hair does not curl or even wave. I've been growing it out, but in about two inches it will go to looking stringy and gross. And I;m horrible at judging what will look good with my face.
I already know I want to go back to a purple based dark-brown color, but I'm looking for a good, slightly edgy haircut.

Hi, as you said you have fin, pin straight hair. Hmmm... I'm just wondering though about the shape of your face, you failed to mention that. Are you chubby? Slim?

I need a new haircut too -- maybe I will get on e today!
