Asked my age? shut up.

In the play “On Importance of Being Earnest” Oscar Wild had asked men not to ask any woman her age if they want to be in good book with her. Now the million dollar question is why most women hide their actual age and this is a mystery as to why they do so. Might be this is an urge to pull back the swift footed Time. Or a simple wish to go arm and arm with their men. May be. Comparatively women’s youth phase is shorter than that of men. This is why probably they want to be in the same state with their counterparts for more years. On the hind side this effort could be especially to attract men towards them. They wish that they be considered young by men and when really they are they feel alighted. Just like this. There is nothing so metaphysical about it I guess. However there are some who fall apart and play the opposite role rather. This is more complicated to comprehend. But the Nature has its equilibrium. Do not you think so?

Whether you are male or female, as old as you feel or as old as you look, you are the age you are, so what? With all the modern day youth enhancers you can never really tell the age of the women you date. She might be 50 but looks like a 25 year old and her beauty and wisdom can sweep your feet off the ground but internally her organs are in a very bad condition only waiting to fall apart. I will not hide my advancing age by dressing fashionably as I might be accused of being mutton dressed as a lamb and betraying my age will not only cheat my suitor but remind me that I am no spring chicken. Understandably, the ageing process is resented by many women and asking their age is a taboo! It is better to shut up.

ah! what could be better ways to tell those in question that they be frank? I could not help picturising the aged inner parts falling apart of a 25 years looking gunny. Yes Gran Ma please tell all you are 80 now. thanks zandi.

will do, but I am yet to get that title of 'granny' and is unlikely that I would get it that too soon. Anywhere old I may be but am always 'young at heart' LOL that makes it all the difference!!

It's interesting because I've never hidden my age. I turn 37 in June and I'm proud of it. The picture on here is within the last 12 months and I haven't really changed all that much lol. My hair is a bit longer, but that's about it. I hear all of the time "You're how old? Noo, you look so young". I think that meditation has helped quite a bit, and moisturizer! My husband was my best friend first and knew my age. He's 6 years younger than me and has never had an issue with my age. Namaste-Anora

Vanity is the second name of a woman , is a very common saying Rajib. It is also a well known fact and quoted by eminent writers that a woman's weak spot is her good looks. So, what happens with advancing age? Wrinkles are shown on her face and she loses her youthly charm[she may think so/after all some mature people may realise that their charm does not lie so much in their looks as in their demeneaur. As a result, when some women , who always would love to look young may think"why go blurt out my age unnecessarlily ?".This may be one of the reasons. The other goup of women who do not bother may belong to the category who a]do not need their looks as a crutch for their worth b] are not good looking in their own eyes c]are supremely self confident and do not bother d] have an inferiority complex about themselves e] thnk that it is none of the other person's business. D]attribute it to the violation of traditional etiquette that forbids people from asking a woman's age and a man's salary.

I do not see a problem with asking a woman her age, I think it is really snobby of people when they do not want to say there age. At the end of the day age is only a number and does not change how old or young you look or act. If someone asked me my age I would tell them that I am 18, because I am 18 and would think nothing of telling them.

Yes but I was saying that personally I do not feel the need to lie about your age. Yes it happens but I do not see a reason for it. Men also lie about their ages too and once again I do not feel a need for that to happen either.

Hi there, that is your personal view but if you go by the statistics you would finfd most of them hide their actual age and giving a false account. Even I am confused some time. Thanks for the response.

I think you are right about womans youth time is shorter than men,we have to look young and attractive to attract a mate in order to reproduce when this stage is over for us woman.Mother nature plays a cruel trick by taking away our looks and figure and giving us sagging skin and wrinkles, men don't have that problem they go on reproducing for as long as they like.I am at the end of my reproducing days being fifty odd so mother natures is dealing it all out to me at the moment.I am not as bothered as i thought I would be,as long as I look nice, hair nice ,a bit of makeup, smart clothes the rest can go hang,I have discovered a new confidence that comes with age.My man loves me,I have produced three brilliant kids run a home, worked for a while ,given up now though.I have got nothing to prove to anybody because having done it all,now they come to me for advise and help.Great I love it,last child is fifteen nearly an adult, over fifty and proud of it.

Hi, friend. I'm not a baby anymore, but I'm not yet considered old. Honestly, this is one of the best years for me. I have more authority but I also gained additional responsibility. Whenever I was asked of my age then, I would rarely shy away and answer promptly as I could. Compared to my present stage and age, I would always tell those inquiring now that I'm past the days in the calendar. Somehow, I don't feel like saying or divulging my exact age. Although I looked matured even as a kid, I could always tell them that I was born on this '19xx' year then. But I remember, I started not celebrating my birthday religiously when I became 29 years old. Since then, it didn't become an issue for me if I had nothing special on our food table. I guess it also came with the tough times. When I ponder on age issues, I often arrive to a conclusion that at the end of the day, your age doesn't matter at all, just as you do what should be done, say what should be said, and feel what should be felt. In other words, there is no right or wrong time; there only is today. Anyway, I noticed that you changed again your avatar here in mylot. Regards.

I never hide my age for i find no reason in doing it, i personally feel a self-confident person would not hide his/her age, but that also depends on who is asking and for what reason, other than that, i dont really know why people would hide their age and i haev noted that it mainly is common among the people aged 30-40

i do agree with you. that women does not want to accept that time flies so fast and they don't want to be reminded of it of time passing. and also it makes them feel good that if the other people will think that they are still young. i think even men will want to look young in other people's eyes. me too. i really wanted to look like a very young person despite the age. but i failed miserably on this part. because of poor lifestyle. but still i guess i can still do something about it. i do need to change my lifestyle.

I have never said that men do not hide their age. They do too but when we go to the average we find the women ration 90/20. what does it tell all about? This is a biological and say genetic thing with women to be always attractive and appreciated. Just tell me have you ever cried over the issue that some one did not appreciate your dress and your look? No? Yes I too feel some time that gone are the days of the youthful vigour and all. But it is momentary one. thanks for responding.

Hello my friend krajibg Ji, Your argument holds good , as mostly women only dress up in a way to attaract men. They spend much more time to dress-up. There are many more beuty-parlour any place, then men. It is only, that they know taht their youth will vanish soon. They undergo natural changes after giving birth. This is natural. But, I have yet another question, why to ask any person 'age'. Let is be left to interviewing authority. Even after documents verification, asking age has no meaning. Happy Holi today. may god bless you and have a great time.

Believe me its not just women but even men dont want to reveal their age.Products like antiwrinkle creams especialy formulated for men are available and this proves men are also age concious. I know this particular man who has been 34 since three years. He says he never change his words!Lol!Every one wants to look good and many feel this looks have to do with age.Lack of confidence in looks might be the reason for people trying to hide their age.

A man 34 since three years!!!! This should surely be the quote of the day. Yes i do admit that men too hide their age. But when at the end of the day calculate the ration you would be shocked to find that it is 90/10.. You don do so but there are so many who do. Thanks Supriya.

I am a girl and i don't really mind if someone ask my age,coz I think that i am still young,it is not a big deal about age, maybe after a few years ,I won't think this way! But it is true that you can't ask women age,so do men 's age! There are some qestiions that one can't ask others, the top 1 is age !

I'm aging pretty well and don't mind that people ask-rarely-how old I am. I'm proud I've made it this far! A radio host said the other day that scientific research has discovered that there are very few true blond women after adulthood. That's why men gravitate toward blonds, because they are attracted toward youth. Life is funny. Especially when you see an old man with a bleached blond or a woman in her 40's-60's that's colored her hair blond. Kind of sad, too.

I think for the most part it is a women's vanity. Women spend millions every year on elixirs and creams to help them stay young and be attractive to men. Youth is the elusive butterfly as it were. To take into account the true beauty of a woman is to see the falsehoods of time and flesh. It is a persuit they can never win. Sad but true. Yes, swift footed time.

This thing is funny.Even a plastic surgery can't hide the real age of a woman or a man.If you look deep in to her/his eyes, you'll see what they went through in their life.Divorced, married, worked hard, suffered, depressed. There was a situation where a young guy asked my age and I said the real number and he was so surprised because he thought I was 6-7 years older!Bad news for me, eh?I wasn't shocked at all.I look older because I was surrounded by elder people since I was born.I was the last child in the family and the youngest from all my family tree. I think we become really old when we start thinking about how old we are. Have a nice day.
