Different countries have different customs and the customs are mirrored in people's way of life. Could anybody here tell me something about the wedding customs in western countries?

In the Philippines wedding customs include "Pamamanhikan" it is where the family of the future groom visit the family of his fiancee to ask her hand formally from her family, then they will agree with the wedding dates and other details. The groom supposed to shoulder all the expenses of the weddings but since the modern age, expenses are divided equally between the bride and the groom.

families are suppose to help out financially. there is a list of what the brides family and what the grooms family is suppose to pay for. unfortunately for my wedding it did not work out that way. we paid for everything.
