She carried the fetus of
A dying baby fathered by a hundred sinning pious.
Agony and pain shrouded her naked body,
I grew large in shame and helplessness.
They shouldered her body
To bury in the distance of infinity,
Ignorant folks pelted stone and brick
She defied the gods.
Voyeuristic Time drank the
Sagged breasts of her,
Holy Faith covered its face
Justice died a thousand deaths in the pristine age.
Death of the evening
Brought the curtain down for
It was mid night
And Faustus had his end with Lucifer.

He wants us to give our opinions on what we think his poem is about.

Hi Rajib..very well written. Now if I was an english professor, maybe I could figure it out. But Im not..
To me it sounds like the story of a young women who was frowned upon by village folk because she was raped as somebody watched helplessly. I really have no idea. If you were refering to the old play something about the Tragic life of Doctor Faustus, I beleive he sold his sole to the devil in return for wealth and power...
You tell us later, what does this mean?

Sounds like a wonderful poem,I was waiting to read how people interpret it.I didnt understand anything at first but on reading many times it seems that it is a poem about a woman ,who in the eyes if the people is a sinner .The baby in her womb seems to be dying and in the end evil wins and justice fails.
We would love to know what exactly was in your mind when you composed this poem.

Hi! You caught the right thread it seems and your gauging into the theme too comes too close what the poet ( myself ) had in mind. Well will explain later. Let some more have their try.
